I recently attended a doubles tournament at GW Aberdeen with a team from Dundee wargames club.

The event was really interesting with custom scenarios for the day and a set of Dirty Tricks and Benevolence cards that could be used to give you a boost in the games.
A description of the scenarios, special cards and my first battle reports has been posted on my blog. http://standwargaming.blogspot.co.uk/2015/09/gw-aberdeen-doubles-tournament.html

Game 2 will be posted tomorrow, game 3 on Wednesday and photos of the gaming tables and some of the armies on Thursday. Hope you enjoy.

I didn't like the special rules as some of them were very OP. I would not like to have played against those DevCents twice plus the movement restriction really nerfed your army.

Yeah, some of the special rules were pretty brutal and the deny movement one really hit me hard. They did add some fun to the game if you weren't taking it too seriously.
The Dev centurions kicked my army's ass for two games, there wasn't really much I could do to counter them with the special rules giving them "super powers".

Very good batreps, entertaining read. Sounds like a fun tournament! Love those sort of dirty trick cards, they sound like they really spice the game up!

The armies that I collect:

- Tyranids, 2,000 pts.
- Orks, 1,250 pts.
- Tau, 750 pts.
- Guard (PDF), 750 pts.

(Yes I have a thing for horde armies to some extent)

Yeah, the dirty tricks cards certainly made things interesting. I might include a toned down version in the campaign I am currently running (they were a bit too powerful in their current form).
