Just coming back to this addition and i have a quick question about formations

Can i take a CAD and one of the auxiliary formations from the space marine codex

For example a CAD and the Scout formation

By scout formation do you mean 10th Company Task Force?

If so, then yes. You can take a CAD + 10th Company Task Force and the army will still be battle forged.

But remember that the scouts in the Task Force will not have the benefits of the CAD, and vice versa.

Actually was thinking of taking the land speeder plus whirlwind formation since i play a lot of horde armies and that frees up a CAD fast attack slot for two stormtalon gunships

Look at the Datasheet. If it has the picture in the corner that identifies it as a Formation and follows Formation rules. 'Auxiliary' things from the Gladius and similar 'Decurion Style' armies are not what you need to ever look at. Identify if it is a Formation with a Datasheet and if it doesn't have one, it's not a Formation.
