I'm hoping to get my hands on the Nids box Wrath of the Hive Mind tomorrow. With that kit, I can build:

1 x Hive Tyrant
3 x Tyranid Warrior
20 x Termagaunt
1 x Tervigon or Tyrannofex
(and I think it comes with 12 rippers as well, but I'm not sure as they are not shown on the box)

In other words, it's a CAD right out of the box which will allow me to paint and play without having to buy anything extra (yet). The question... is it more advantageous for me to build a Tervion or a Tyrannofex from that box? In other words, a second HQ or a Heavy?

With just those models, I'd go with a Tyrannofex. If you get the box again, Tervigon. But a Tervigon should have at least 25+ models specifically for spawning and another 30 to turn it into a Troop choice. You really don't have a choice at this point.

Not much to add. If you can switch g magnets, that would rawk. I really like Tyrannofex, especially at lower point levels. But a Tervigon is only slightly over priced for what you get.

T-fex all day long. Double template and 2+ armor, can't go wrong. But make sure to include some synapse in your list. Otherwise a tervigon will provide for some fluffy games.

I'd say Tyrannofex. It looks like the box doesn't have much for anti-tank which (if I recall correctly) the Tyrannofex can do, and with the Hive Tyrant and Warriors, you've got plenty of synapse.

I recall the total price of the individual models being a couple of $ lower than hive mind box last time I looked.

Edit: Adding it up now, it seems like I was either misremembering or they changed it. Nevermind this post!

I would go with tyrannofex as well. But make sure you magnetize! It is so important for nid MCs, and it provides you with a ton of flexibility.
