I painted up this Logan Grimnar a little while ago. He's the old metal version- from before he was moved to Resin, then later re-sculpted and put on a flying wolf drawn chariot.
I'm still fond of him on foot, and the dynamic pose this mini has really works for him. Ultimately, the challenge on this mini was helping all of the various tiny details to pop, and still keep his face a strong center of interest. I think I accomplished this through my use of color (the warmest spots are on his face).
I believe that my only regret here is that we didn't get a photo of the freehand on his shoulder before we mailed him off.
Anyway, here he is.

Awesome awesome paint job. I too have always loved this model and I have a resin one somewhere but I haven't built up the courage to paint it.

I love it! I said it when rumours came up about him being redone; if they had changed nothing except the scale (bringing him up to be a bit bigger than the standard modern Termie) it would have been a perfect model. As it is, I still haven't bought the new one.

To be fair, I didn't use to be much of a fan of Grimnar. I think I just didn't dig the (very) old paint job the studio did for him, though.
It happens a lot with minis like this guy- there's just so much going on, it is easy to make a mess of him.
Looking at the new sculpt- he doesn't seem so bad as all that. The only real trouble with him is that... thing that he is riding.
I don't think I like him as much as this version, but it is possible I'd change my mind if I got a chance to paint him up nice.

Good job!
I can only agree with the points already made;
Its hard to make this model pop because the face, hair, pelt and armour all want to be pale.
You managed a nice balance of it.
The armour might be a bit bluer than i personally like these days, but it work really well for the model.

It is always hard to know how blue to make Space Wolves. According to the fluff, they wear "grey" but in all of the studio paintjobs I've seen, they're always wearing a less saturated blue.
Unless they're from the 13th company. They wore actual grey.
