So I was recently thinking to myself how I'd transport my 40k army in the future, and started to google some methods people have used. Now while I used foam blocks with slots in the past, I've seen people magnetizing the bases of their models and transporting them in that fashion using a cake tray or something similar. However, transporting a larger army like that, especially on foot, can leave you carrying many trays of stuff which isn't very convenient.

Now I still have my old Army Transport bag (the one that opens from the top) from back in the day, but I don't have any of the foam trays. The thing was always easy to carry and could easily store a pretty large army, featuring a good 4+ tanks easily. So what I'm wondering, is there anything around those dimensions in the form of nested adjustable shelving, made out of metal for army transport?

So Figure A is basically the finished thing with the final layer being a cover with a handle so you could pick the whole thing up and out of the transport to set on a table with an army inside ready for deployment.

Figures B and D are basically a base shelf and one with extra pips added to give you more height for you awesome taller models if needed. You can see the socket holes on each shelf, and each one has a pip tube thing built in.

Figure C is an additional pip that sockets in to add more height, as seen in figure D which is a combination of B and C. The pips would probably be on sockets of some sort so the thing doesn't collapse in on itself.

So does something of this nature exist or will I have to build myself one? I guess if I'm building my own I could just use those constructor struts and bolt the individual shelves to it, but a modular pip version would be nice, maybe with some side paneling options to keep the bag itself from squishing inwards on the sides. The shelves would obviously be made of light metal, that could hold a reasonable amount of weight and the pips/sides can probably be made of anything really.

I know a guy who made this themselved. They took a random plastic box, like one you'd pack up stuff to move/store things, made trays with spacers out of metal sheets, and magnetized his army. It was all extremely well painted, and I'm pretty sure it worked well for him.

This is also basically what tabalewar cases are. They have shelves you can space as you please.

The Tablewar ones are pretty close to what I was looking for, but at the cost I don't really like how restricted their are to their cases.

I guess I'll build my own using some metal sheeting and such to fit into my army transport case. Thanks for all the input
