Ok, I'm running a Gorepack, so I've got my nifty two units of bikers. I'm arming them with Meltaguns, but building the models I ran into a conundrum and have a few questions:

- Is it better to replace the twin-linked bolter with the Meltagun, or have the biker hold it? Chaos bikers have 2x CC weapons, so there's that, but how dangerous is a min unit of Melta bikers in CC anyway? Or am I missing something? (Also, if you replace the twin-bolters, how are you mounting the melta's to the bikes? What "bitz" should I use to fill the second bolter spot?
- Should I be taking a Combi-Melta or Melta Bombs on the champ, or is he just there to be a bullet sponge for the Meltagunners?

Thanks folks!

Depends on how WYSIWYG your group is.

I customized my bikers by putting them in a leaning position (copied the idea from ravenwing dark vengeance position) and used some extra arm bits to have them shooting the meltaguns off to the side, other arm holding the handle bar. Then on the front of the bike, off to the side, I glued a chainsword which looks like they could just reach forward and grab and use if they need. Then I added some spikes with impaled heads on the back, on both sides, since its kinda empty back there.

Looks way better/dynamic than how they tell you to make them in the box.

I just play them as 'replacing the twin link bolter' cause it is a serious pain to convert it like that and the big chainsword on the front counts as their extra close combat weapon.

Note: For the chainsword since it had a hand holding it, I cut out the hand and put a little piece of plastic back in as the handle.

Oh, and for the champion I used one of those no helmet berzerker heads, trimmed his face down a touch so I could glue an extra bloodletter face to the front and he looks like hes wearing a bloodletter face as a mask - really cool looking for khorne champ.

Also ya give the champ a combi melta - mine is holding a chainaxe in one hand (just count it as CC weapon) and like the chainswords I meantioned, I glued a combi melta on the front of the bike - to the side and vertically - looks cool like he could just grab and use it when he wants.

I got some bikes from a friend. He had replaced the combi bolters with some sort of ork dakka gun (pretty fat and round) which served as really impressive melta guns.

Honestly, if you want your bikers to hold the handles AND have pistol + CCW weapons to hand, you might struggle.

I built a huge (3.5k) white scars army with around 25 bikes. I would recommend putting a meltagun in the slot of 1 bolter, and have a melta and bolter in the dash. I've got special weapons poking off at all angles and it's a real PITA to store them (something that didn't occur to me until I tried to transport them finished to the LGS).
