On units that won't be birthed from Tervigons, are Adrenal Glands and Toxin Sacs worth the points on Termagants and Hormagaunts, or are those points better spent somewhere else?

Thanks in advance!

Not for Termagants (it was cool when they used to gain the effect from a nearby Tervigon, but those days are over and the cost of the melee upgrades for non-melee units is too high).

Hormagaunts can make a case for one or the other, or even both. Toxin/Adrenal "Hypergaunts" were actually pretty effective in 6th, because S4 Poisoned would give re-rolls to wound vs T4, and they re-rolled 1s to hit because of their Scything Talons. Those days are over, and poor WS, the nerf to Talons and the nerf to Poison make them far less adept at MEQ killing. Never the less, S4 means they can kill most vehicles on the charge, and Poison means they can kill most MCs on the charge (gone are the days of killing a Wraithknight though). Just remember that they are expensive (7 or 8 points, 10 if you take both upgrades) but are still a T3/6+ platform with poor WS and no means of charging after Running. In many ways, the nerfs reduced Hormagaunts to being tarpit units, as their offensive powers require such investment (and luck) to pull off that it's simply not worth it*.

*The possible exception to this is if you're running the Endless Swarm formation, because then there is a reasonable chance of you recycling these units when they die.

Toxin Sacs on Hormagaunts, yes. Everything else, no. Poisoned at least makes up for the Hormagaunt's weak strength and I'll admit I wish I had put it on my own unit more often than not just to make the unit less worthless. But I've been using them as Objective grabbers until I get around to building Skyblight. Like Xyptc said, they're not what they used to be... Keep them cheap because they WILL die.

That's actually the way I hope to run the Hormagaunts (most of the time). So, it might be worth it to take on both upgrades even though they are expensive.
