so folks i am attending WHW in early october and apart from buying way too much resin i intend to have a few 500pt games. My main opponent has decided he is taking GKs, consisting of 1 librarian, 5 terminators (i think 5) and a dreadknight. Now working with what i have i think i can field the following for 485points, i have to work with what i have as i dont think ill have time for more painting but i can try, so this is the force in question, any improvements.
as a thought regarding units I have I might be able to throw together another 10 man squad with some flamers and an autocannon sentinel and possibly stretch the list to 600 but I then worry what my opponent might get for that

basilisk: 125

doesn't the basilisk have a minimum range of like 36"? on a 48" x 48" board for small encounters that's over 44% of the board it can't fire on if you position it in a corner. maybe proxy it for a medusa?

how about relic plating upgrades on any chimeras for DTW rolls since you'll face GK's/Libby?

An astropath is a cheap upgrade too for an extra level 1 pysker to include in your CCS.

just some thoughts.

I would personally lose the basilisk in favor of a couple wyverns if you have them. Less vehicle killing power but best way to kill GK in my experience is make them make lots of saves, plus, an extra heavy bolter never hurts. The autocannons should have no problem breaking any metal boxes they may come in. I agree with takana that some relic plating may be in order for the chimera too. Where to get the extra 8 points for the wyverns and relic plating would largely be up to you, I recommend ditching he medic as FNP on guardsman rarely helps in my experience.

Yeah I love Basilisks personally, but against GK's they rarely perform well. If he's taking Terminators anyways, that AP3 is going to be useless all game. And with the 24" min range scatter you'll be more likely to hit nothing or your own guys, more than you'll hit 6 models.

Like others said, best way to deal with GK's is to force lots and lots of saves OR if you can load up on AP1 or AP2 weapons. The melta guns should work well for forcing Invlun saves, but some Plasma might be a good idea as well.

Whether you like it or not, the GK's are going to close gap on your units and force you into melee, where your Guardsmen will quickly crumple. Best thing to do against that is either play to the objectives (use your many units/models/tanks to grab stuff, while he scoots with 2 units) or flood the board with too many lasgun shots to handle.

ok cheers for the feedback problem is the game is in a week, im away and those are all the models I have painted :( so limited, will try to get a new list together though.

I hear ya, it feel dirty to field unpainted or poorly painted models sometimes. I've often taken worse lists for prettier models .

Basilisk can direct fire below their minimum range so they'll still be able to shoot stuff
