Hey there guys!

Just wanted to show of my tau force as far as I painted it.
It's about half the models I habe.

Yes, it's the striking scorp color scheme, if you dont like it just ignore it.
I didnt copy him step by step but adapted the orange grey mix to my liking.

I am still beginner level, so I really need constructive feedback to improve!

I think they're awesome, and I don't think there's anything wrong with adapting a cool colour scheme you see online - especially as you're open about it.

They're really top-notch tabletop quality. I'm not completely sold on the splotchy wash, but you're obviously going for a bit of a 'wear-and-tear' look. Only thing of note, and it might just be the pictures not showing it, but the Crisis suits seems to be missing any detail on the optics - the Broadsides have a nice blue lens, and looking at the Firewarriors you're occasionally using red for the optics, so the Crisis might have red optics but they're just not showing up in the pictures.

You are right, I completely forgott about those :O
The commander has no lense either... grabbing my brushes as I'm writing ^^

The weathering could have been a lot better, but I failed drawing the thin "rain" lines so it became kind of a brown zebra look. :-/

You say beginner.
I say high quality paint job. Judging from the pictures these are above tabletop quality. I especially like the bases.
Great job.

Nothing wrong with seeing a cool colour scheme and using it on your own minis. SS82 does a great job with his painting, no I can see from your pics that you have done a top notch job yourself. Orange and grey really does look great on those models.

I like the fact that they look more industrial than shiny future-techy. Not something you see often with tau so it makes them stand out.

You've done a great job! They look sweet.

How are those bases done? Are they resin?

Any time i see an odd color scheme that still looks good on Tau im happy. So many generic puke brown, white, grey, or blue schemes. Thats why mine are purple lol

I can never do good wearing detail though. The subtle effects you added bring a lot of character out.

Looks like you did the same thing i did where the characters have different helmets...or in the case of the broadsides a different "bib" lol. I also color coded my firewarriors but thats a personal pref so i dont get the squads mixed up

Find it funny that the model i'd say you painted the worst, the crisis suits, are the ones that i hated painting the most myself becuase theyre so bland compared to the rest. Those show your "beginner" claims, but like i said i hate those models to begin with lol.

Also, did you forget to paint the Cadre's head? He looks like its just solid blue including the hair braid.

In the end i think you did better than me for a "beginner" lol

Thanks!
The bases done quite simple:
- Cover Base in PVA
- Sprinkle bigger rocks on top
- add Sand
- Paint black, drybrush grey, light drybrush white.
- add gras

Acutally, the Krisis where the first I painted.
I tryed to use the grey spray SS82 uses on his models, but the paint is really not good for painting. After priming it with this color, no other paint would stick so I ended up throughing the Krisis in Alcohol ;-)
Weird thing was, they instantly started to fall apart and even my fingerprints were stuck on the plastik. (i used this method many times to get color of and that never happened before).
After that I kinda lost interest in painting the Krisis and therefore the paintjob was done as quick as possible... Planning to sell them and get new ones.

The Cadre's Head actually took me quite some time, but I really suck at painting heads.
I painted the head white and then "washed" it with thinned down dark blue. after that I drybrushed with light blue and highlighted with white again. It's not good, but the best I ever came up with ^^
To be fair, I spend the most time painting the cloak of the model and I am quite proud of how it turned out.

Cool. The grey, white and orange work really well together.
