I searched the forums but couldnt find any TWWH threads that arent half a year old, so instead of practising necromancy I decided to create a new one.
This is where we discuss all things related to the upcoming game, and primarily what I am interested in is how big the campaign map will be.
See, I am a 40k gamer and only recently got into WHFB after playing the Call of Warhammer M2TW mod that really is a great way to pass the time till TWWH is released and honestly I'm now really interested in the lore of the Warhammer world. Unfortunately, I develop an interest in this universe at a time when GW is literally in ruin (not financially, but from a hobby perspective) because all the good stuff on their website is long gone and they now only focus on selling toys. So all the maps, the bat reps, the fiction, since the mid 2000s these things have disappeared from their website.
Anyways, without further ado this is the warhammer world map:
Obviously it's just not gonna happen that CA will make the entire map playable, oh no, sir, that would be madness. Especially given the fact that even Games Workshop doesnt have any model range for Cathay, Ind, Kislev and so on.
So obviously the map is more going to be focused around the Old World:
Now this map would already cut off the inclusion of the Dark Elves (Naggaroth), High Elves (Ulthuan) and Lizardmen (mostly Lustria) but at least we could fit in Tomb Kings (Nehekara) and Ogre Kingdoms, but let's face it - even this map is too big, especially since it includes the provinces of Estalia and Tilea or the Border Princes, for which no GW figures exist. Hence we're gonna have to narrow it down to the Empire and its surroundings itself.
Now this is my most realistic and hopeful expectation as a fan, with Estalia and Tilea cut off. Unfortunately, no word has been said about the inclusion of either Bretonnia or the Wood Elves (Athel Loren), so chances are even these two provinces are going to be cut off.
It's really gonna suck if all we get as the entire campaign map is Empire and the badlands to the east.
The factions that have already been announced so far are Empire, Vampire Counts (Sylvania), Dwarves, Orks & Goblins, and Chaos (possibly as a non-playable faction).
I wonder if they will split up the Empire into its 10 provinces (Reikland, Talabecland, Stirland, Wissenland, Nordland, Ostland, Ostermark, Hochland, Averland, Middenland) instead of 1 faction otherwise it will be overpowered. In any case, I dont care how diverse each race is; if this is all they include for the base game I will NOT be buying it. Thoughts?
Also, this is unrelated to the game itself, but here's a tribute video I made to the WHFB universe because I was hyped:

Part of this is because I'm an Empire player.... Though, like you I do hope they plan on adding in the Ogre Kingdoms, elves and other races as well.
Though I do feel it necessary to point out: GW have made models for Kislev. They are just old, metal and hella OOP. But they are out there.
Ohh, and I agree that there's no way the "entire world" is a useable map. That, IMHO would require a Sid Meiers' Civilization: Warhammer game (which, lets all be honest, would be awesome)

They are going to add more races. This will have 2 more expansions with more races added each time. There are some Youtube vids of actual in game play that have me hyped up for the game. If it isn't to buggy at release that will be a weekend I tell the wife that I'll see her on Monday lol.
I disagree with the notion that the Old World map is too big; Total War often just glosses over the smallest factions, and with a licence you know there is an agenda to make armies based on GW's toys and nothing else.
They are entirely capable of filling in the gaps if needs be, and remember that the maps in the last few games have covered over a continent if not more of land. It's a matter of turning down the map resolution if they need to.

First thing to remember is that the Warhammer World despite its resemblance to our world, taken in scale, covers a much larger area than our world. Proportionally the Old World would cover all of continental europe, most of north africa and a large part of Russia. Thats not including anything beyond the worlds edge mountains or anything south of Tilea.
In any case, they have already stated that the map for this game will be the largest map of any game they have produced thus far, and that the map is designed to jigsaw together with the other 2 expansions which will produce an even larger and more complete map of the Warhammer World. That doesn't mean they'll cover the whole world, but I think they'll cover a lot of it, and Id imagine that modders will add in whatever they didnt include.
