The title tells you enough. I'm interested to hear your thoughts. Trying to make a return to the blood God. I was so excited by the new Eldar release, but GW seem to have ruined them for me. So back to my trusty chaos.
CAD - 1000 on the nose.
HQ - Bloodthirster of unfettered fury. Warlord
Troops - 8x Bezerkers. Champion has axe of khorne.
Troops - 8x cultists. All with pistols.
Heavy support - Land Raider
Heavy support - Maulerfiend with Magma cutters
Heavy support - Maulerfiend with Lasher tendrils.
I can take the axe of khorne off of the champion and arm him with melta bombs in order to free up the 25 points required to get a bloodthirster of insensate rage. And I am tempted.....but initiative 1 really sucks, so I'm not sold on that switch. What's your thoughts then dakka?

If you have the models, I'd highly recommend getting a Slaughtercult in there. With that, if you can build the army around the Blood Host Detachment, you're getting an extra blood tithe point per turn and basically double the benefits since you can apply a lower benefit when choosing any higher one, each turn.
I'd also say in general, wrapping up 500 points of a 1,000 point list in a single HQ and a transport is not very efficient. Thirsters are great, but you can always summon them with tithe points and Land Raiders I feel are always going to underwhelm point-for-point below 1500 points or so.

Although I'd agree about land raiders, they still remain the only thing we have to effectively get Bezerkers into combat. I also agree about the 500 point investment being very high...but who doesn't want a bloodthirster? Ideally, with the thirster, the two fiends and the land raider that's at least a little bit of target saturation at this points level.
The extra tithe point at this level would be very nice. But I'd have to then rely on rhinos or foot slogging. Both of which are highly unreliable, and tend to leave me open to being shot off the board before I make combat. Even though we play scenery heavy boards. Also, I find too many KDK players wrapped up in generating tithe points that that seems to become their priority over the actual game objectives. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about blood for the blood God. But it seems a little counter productive sometimes how obsessed people are with it. As for 'you can just summon a bloodthirster' you need to have 8 points, you also need to have a character alive who has a decent leadership. You then have to summon him. He then deep strikes in and can't charge. He then has to change flight mode so can't charge. At this points level I'll be lucky if I have 8 points by turn 3. Means a summon on turn 4, change mode on turn 5 and if I'm lucky make a charge on turn 6. What a waste.

My go to is summoning Bloodthirsters. They are incredible fire magnets who soak up a good amount of firepower just by being intimidating. Sure you can't charge for two turns but having a Bloodthirster late game is so unbelievably invaluable it's a wonder it's even a discussion. A Bloodthirster turn 1 or 2 =/= a Bloodthirster turn 5, 6 or 7.
Maulerfiends are an excellent choice as always and two for this points level is pretty decent.
I love cultists, personally and they can be effective in large numbers.
I don't believe Berzerkers to be worth their trouble, which is a shame as I have quite a few just sitting on the shelf. With that, I also don't believe Land Raiders to be worth transporting Berzerkers. Maybe some Terminators (and that's a maybe) but definitely not Berzerkers. If we could get crusaders and do a Space Wolf Blood Claw rush then sure, but as it stands now you won't get enough use out of them to warrant that point investment.

I'd give both the fiends magma cuttera, you lack anti-tank and sometimes they whif hard at punching, the cutters can give you that extra hit to blow up a bigger tank. It will also save you 10 points so you can get a dozer blade and dirge caster for the LR.
I like the d-thirster but I've never run any Bloodthirsters so I can't say for sure which is more useful here. But the bigger the axe the better I think is the Khorne logic.

Make sure to ask your TO if they let BT change flight mode on turn its summoned - ATC tournaments ruled they can, ITC ruled they can't.
Landraider is eating up all your points - get some MSU in there - some 1 man spawn units, khorne dog units, bikers - anything fast. Speed is key with objective based missions and a landraider is just gonna sit around and do nothing.
I'm liking wrath bloodthirster the most now - it can fly around and whip and breathe fire on stuff making it a very good warlord killer, troop killer, anything killer. With vector strike and whip (the D3 one) it can even be a decent flyer killer. Land it a couple turns in when its safer and eat everything.
Don't go insensate rage - its really only good as a superheavy killer and at 1000 points I don't think you will see much of those.
Rhinos for berzerkers is good - especially in KDK where each dead rhino is an extra blood point - I usually use mine to move up 6" and disembark the berzerkers turn 1 - and they almost always have something within assault range turn 2 (usually something sitting on an objective) then you can use the rhinos to grab objectives since they are pretty fast on their own.
The last couple games I played, my opponents left my 2 rhinos alone since they didn't want to give me the blood point.

I personally like the D-Thirster - however at 1000 pts maybe not. I agree I like Beserkers but they are really not worth it. Most of my points go to Flesh hounds, some bikes in their formation, maulerfiends and soul grinders and then for troops cultists or bloodletters. I try to summon more flesh hounds when I can as they are good and will do things for your right away. Thirsters are good to summon too, but a pain late game to use. Good luck man,
