Bottom line up front: I want to make my Chaos Lord look like he has no face.

Spot on.

But really, the so-named Flayed Lord has been leading my army for years, but beneath his skull-white helmet and glowering glare. See pics here if interested.

So, in the interests of trying something new and terrifying, I decided to make the Terminator Armor version of TFL unmasked. Here are the results so far, and as strange as this sounds: please tell me if he is convincingly minus a face or two. (For clarity, the armor has only a basecoat right now, this is solely a head effect test) The lighting is not good in this shot, but I would like to feel like I am/am not wasting time on this before I go further.

Sgt. Vanden- And now I'm a whale with panties. Can't see how this day can get any better.

In the Warp, getting trolled by Tactical_Spam, AKA TZEENTCH INCARNATE

The flesh looks pretty nice, but it's not completely in the 'flayed' category for me; I'd imagine that the muscles would be more pronounced on a 'flayed' human head, even more so if they've been exposed to stuff the skin usually protects them from.

Not sure how one could paint that on such a small scale though

(by the way, do you have a p&m blog of your chaos guys somewhere? I've seen your guys floating around the gallery here and there, but never managed to find a thread on them )

Tactical_Spam: Ezra is fighting reality right now.

War Kitten: Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...

War Kitten: Ezra can steal reality

Looks good,dry.
I dont know if you are going for a wet or dry effect, but since hes been like this for years, or centuries, or millennia, its gonna be dry i guess.
I would guess that most blood would be clotted, fallen off and then leave the muscles and bone revealed.

Who knows what happens to his veins and stuff, but perhaps they would be visible?

There arent much muscle on the top of the skull, so definately bare bone there, with some muscle and veins perhaps.

Just google human head muscles and veins and youll find it.

Ofcourse magic and chaosgods and the warp will affect the way it looks, so doesnt have to look like a real flayed person..

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Been considering going back over it with some brighter lines for the muscle effect, and I think something glossy could help with the dryness.

Ezra, I don't have a P&M blog setup because I'm lazy, but I should probably assemble all my madness at some point. Thanks for asking!

Looking really cool! love it so far, only thing I would say is that maybe needs a little bit of a browny/yellow wash? to bring out some of the recesses? Not to take away from the white, but more to emphasise the shapes of the bones?

Favourite Game: When your Warboss on bike wrecks 3 vehicles simply by HoW - especially when his bike is a custom monowheel.

Honestly that looks awesome the fine detail is great, your old flayed one is cool but this is just the bomb

Facts are chains that bind perception and fetter truth. For a man can remake the world if he has a dream and no facts to cloud his mind.
