One of the non-
40k games i play is a fairly new game called Warzone: Resurrection by Prodosgames. Its a skirmish game, and ive found i like it a lot more than
40k lately....sadly it isnt very well known yet. Its also based on a
D20 and uses a stat modifying system rather than
40k's "2+ Armor save" crap. Bad luck still happens obviously but its no where near as often.
For the record there are 2 schemes here because the Imperials are technically two armies merged into one. They can mingle with each other, though its rather difficult to do it effectively. Yellow models are Ministry of War and blue models are Wolfbanes (except for the Grey Ghosts, they look like Wolves to me and their rules scream Wolves to me yet for some reason theyre Ministry of War so i painted them blue anyway. I think they'd look odd in yellow armor and red hair anyway)
Anyway, on with the show!
Trenchers
Typical grunt footsoldier for Ministry of War. Bit of a Swiss army knife too which is both a boon and a curse (along the same reasons i hate Space Marine armies: you pay for everything, whether you use it or not)
Imperial Officers
No-named boss guy focused more on support than
raw power. Actually he sucks balls, but awesome models
lol Golden Lions
Yes...i know.. theyre a Space Marine with Lightning Claws ripoff that sport berets instead of helmets
lol. Dont care, theyre nasty.
Timothy MacGuire
Boss guy sporting Golden Lion gear and rules. My usual go-to when i play MoW (ministry of war) heavy lists. He's a badass and a half
lol Greyhounds
They USED to be an ungodly tanky little bugger that sports a torrent flamer type weapon, but they recently nerfed his durability. Now hes just average, but still deadly.
Imperial Hurricane Walker
The ONLY big model currently available in the Imperials army. This is the only model that costs more than 25 bucks, with 1 more in the works (giant tank thing with an equally giant gun). Part of the allure to this game is the models are great and still cheap. Anyway this guy is a low-ish armor walker with a LOT of hull points so he gets hurt easily but takes a lot of damage before finally going down. Sports a ton of guns as you can see. I feel naked not using this thing.
Grey Ghosts
These are the girls i mentioned earlier that are technically Ministry of War, but are still painted in my Wolfbanes theme. Like i said, i think they look and act like wolfbanes and they should be wolfbanes, and i thought my yellow armor would look odd on them, so i painted them blue.
Theyre snipers, if that wasnt obvious
lol. They have a 1/5th chance to cause automatic damage regardless of your armor or any other kind of saves with near table-range reach. Glass cannons though.....
lol Mourning Wolves
One of the two troop choices for Wolfbane Imperials. They can be taken as a Support (think Elites in
40k) if you are a Ministry of War heavy list, and theyre one of the few units i'd consider doing that with. Cheap, quick, sneaky, elusive, and deadly enough to be a pain in the butt if ignored
lol.
EDITED:
Finished my Wolfbane Commandos
The red shoulderpad is what i started doing to signify the squad leader. Previously i just put some rank on their shoulderpad but i found i often miss it when im glancing at my models and put my squad leader in a bad spot. Anyway, this squad took me about 2 days when i finally started painting it
lol.
Rippers are not standard on these models, its an addon pack. I bought it because the Commandos suffer heavily from the only modeling problem ive ever seen from Prodosgames and thats thinly casted swords. The bastards swords are so flimsy i had a few broken before i even opened the starter boxes, and since Rippers are in essence a side-grade, the lower-break-ability of them made me get'm.
Morten Oakenfist
Hes as nasty as he looks with that manly beard and giant hammer. Borderline broken hes so strong, with lack of range skills (well, as in further than ~6 inches range) being his only flaw. And i thought Timothy was a badass, this guy beats Timothy in a heartbeat
lol.
Pathfinders
Theyre not quite the same as Imperial Officers. They can be your Warlord, which is why he has a large base magnetized to a small base, or an "adviser" to a squad which is different than a Lord like the Imperial Officers can do. Lords replace the squad commander, advisers do not. Thats actually a significance, but i wont bother the details.
Either as warlord or adviser, pathfinders are a heavy, HEAVY support unit. They dont do much for themselves, though they can still pull their own weight, but they make their squad nasty.
Necromower ATV
The bane of my painting skills. Fether took WAY too long for how large he is, but i think he came out fine.
Its not modeled for some reason but his main shtick is literally a drive-by attack with a freakin Claymore
lol on top of some heavy dakka.
I have another greyhound and 5 more mourning wolves not shown but theyre just identical to these anyway.
Thoughts?
