All in the title. I really loved Dreadfleet, it was fun to paint, and a pretty good game.

Does anyone think Sigmar will get one at any point in the future?

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

I think it is safe to say GW have no interest in ever releasing something like Dreadfleet ever again.

Sadly it sold so poorly they were throwing boxes in the trash by the end and some FLGSs still have boxes covered in dust hidden in the corner somewhere.

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

I don't think we will see another Dreadfleet, but I have been thinking about ships and boats in AoS - they are only a Battleplan/couple of Warscrolls away from being done...

Yeah, Dreadfleet was bad, but that doesn't mean that GW wont do another limited edition game, like that Inquisitor thing. I think it makes sense for them to do one for AoS at some point

I was interested in Dread Fleet because I like naval games, but the reviews made it clear that it was far too random and knockabout to interest me, considering the cost and work of building all the models.

However something with a bit more tactics would make an obviously good one box set addition to the AoS uiverse.

GW need to get the core game established first, though, which will take a couple of years.

I think AoS is more likely to get a battle fleet gothic than it is a dreadfleet;-)

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

^that. There really isnt much in the way of oceans for a fleet to sail.

Also, I can reliably say that if they do do a Dreadfleet for AoS, its not happening this year.

The game that a game store here still have on a self for 60% off. Yeah, don't see GW going there again any time soon.

As someone who really enjoyed Man O'War, I was horrified when I saw Dreadfleet. It came across as "you must use these specific ships/captains, screw you if you want to build a unique fleet" - that may not be how it actually played, but I just didn't care enough to investigate further.

Man O'War would probably be considered limited these days as there weren't that many ship types, but it was really fun to play. Empire battleships versus Dark Elf sea dragons, now that's what you call a fleet action.

Upcoming work for 2022:
* Calgar's Barmy Pandemic Special
* Battle Sisters story (untitled)
* T'au story: Full Metal Fury
* 20K: On Eagles' Wings
* 20K: Gods and Daemons

Exactly my problem with it. I'd have been excited for it if let me build a dark elf fleet to fight a high elf fleet. A bunch of random ships slapped together from different factions was just not exciting.

the Dreadfleet miniatures are gorgeous, though...
way better than any of my MoW minis, aside from the DE Black Ark, of course...
that is a classic!!!

the terrain is very nice, too...
i like everything in the box...
the production value is incredible!!!
while a lot of people don't seem to care much, the new way of designing plastics, making great use of negative space to provide depth and layers, is beautiful...

don't think we'll see anything like Dreadfleet for AoS, though, unless they are ships that sail the ether between realms...
Battlefleet AoS, anyone???

cheers

Are there any ships?
I assumed the entire setting was a bunch of Gods throwing warriors at each others lawns, hoping the other one would give up or run out of guys to throw.

- 10000+ pts
Imperial Knights- 5 Standard Knights / 3 Cerastus Knights
Officio Assassinorum - 4 Assassins
CSM - 500pts? Maybe? Its from the Officio Assassinorum box so I'm pretty sure its not enough to run in a CAD
Vampire Lords- I have no idea I bought it like two days before I left country and they're still in storage so I'll have to see when I get back.]

A sort of spelljammer-esque magic ship space battles is quite possible. Azyrheim has a very Marvel Cinematic Universe Thor feel to it, after all.

Wow, I had no idea DreadFleet was such a flop. That's a real shame as the ships were epic. As for AoS, I'm hoping we get a Man-of-War style game once everything has been panned out with the fluff and crunch.

It'd be pretty interesting on what each realm offers on a sea battle.

The realm of beasts has ice caps so it's oceans are probably normal but I'm betting there's things in the water that make your ships look like guppies.

The realm of metal seems to have rivers of mercury so I'm betting that goes for the oceans as well.

The realm of shadows is supposed to have 13 continents, no clue on what's separating them. Life probably has regular seas as well, until Nurgle screwed things up that is.

Lots of possibilities for GW to build on and fans to house rule.

My friend at the Empire site already came up with some ship battle ideas.

The rules let it down, unfortunately.

There was a lot of random stuff, which is OK in a beer and pretzels game costing £20 but not in a £60 game with 12 detailed ship models you have to assemble and paint before you can play.

Do be fair building and painting 12 models is a LOT more beer and pretzels than 100+ model armies for 40k or AoS.

A 100+ model army is a lot more beer and pretzels than a 500+ model army.

Beer and Pretzels usually means the kind of game you can set up and learn the rules in five or ten minutes with a new bunch of people.

Aye, nothing we do in this hobby should really fit the definition. I think the closest you'd get is X wing, and then only the starter set games.
