sorry, guys...
i've been having some serious laptop and camera issues...
i've got a new laptop, and a new lens is next on the list...
now i just need to figure out how to edit pics on the new laptop...
there is a good shot of the assembled crew on the Wyrd forums if you guys want to see the actual models, instead of renders...
i have not assembled the whole crew yet, just the first Mannequin i am starting with, and the Performer with the riding crop that is up next...
@
NH Gunsmith: it just goes to show how preferences vary...
i think the new plastics are way better on this crew, but then, i wouldn't have touched the metals with a ten-foot pole in the first place...
i'm so stoked about the new look

...
@thedarkavenger: actually, every single model is a major change...
Colette is very different...
Cassabdra's new sword on shoulder pose completely changes her whole vibe...
the Performers have very intricate hairdoes, with new dresses...
the Mannequins have bladed shoes, and a whole new look...
the Doves are now included in the set, and are much better sculpts...
as for Rasputina, i really love the original metal one, and can't stand the new one...
the rest of the plastics for her crew are a great improvement, but she doesn't do it for me at all...
thankfully, i have had the metal one for years, just waiting for the chance to paint her...
@Red Harvest: yes, i am a huge fan of Gael's work...
i have been corresponding with him for the last ten years...
he's a great guy, who does great work

...
he has always done a more true scale style mini, which is not my preference, but his sculpts look so good, i just can't resist!!!
i am disappointed that the one performer doesn't have the cigarette holder like the render...
i'm going to have to grab the thinest piece of brass rod i can find, and do the conversion before i paint her...
her hand is so tiny, even my smallest paper clip won't do the job...
the legs of the Doves clip off the sprue just fine, but you need to be careful with the bodies...
i had one wing break when i was clipping it off the sprue, but it was easy enough to carve away one of the wing struts, and replace it with a pin, which fixed the wing, and still looks like the original part...
my issue with the doves is that they come with clear flight stands, but there is nowhere on the sculpt to slot it in:(...
for the crew, i am painting the Smoke and Mirrors box, the Coryphee, and Angelica (when she is released in January)...
i'm not sure what else my guy will be adding into the crew after that...
as an aside, the new plastic lamps are a great kit!!!
they look great, and have more variety than the single one in the Victorian accessories blister...
i look forward to building the display base for these girls, using both the blister of bits and the box of lamp posts...
all in all, i could not be happier with the new plastics for the Showgirls...
i just need to figure out how i will mount the Doves, and make a cigarette holder for the Performer...
everything else is pretty damn good, for my first experience with the plastics...
if i had a complaint about the plastics in general, it would be that the gaps are pretty serious, and have to be filled in before painting, which makes my usual approach of painting subassemblies impossible...
having to assemble the whole model makes it tough to get to some of the more recessed detail, like the back of the arching Mannequin, but the minis look great once they are built, and all the gaps are filled...
cheers
