So, I'm trying to go fluffy and not so fussed about competitive. The guys I play with are coming away from competitive a little bit as we feel it's starting to destroy the feel of the game. I've always loved Khorne, and with my previous daemonkin lists I was always upset that they didn't include Kharn....so I've changed the list. Let me know what you think.

Blood Host

Core - Slaughter Cult

Lord, Axe of Ruin, Combi-Flamer
8x Bezerkers - champion has lightening claw
8x Bezerkers - champion has lightening claw
5x Possessed

Lords of Slaughter

Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster

Auxiliary

Daemon engine - Maulerfiend - Magma Cutters
Daemon engine - Maulerfiend - Lasher Tendrils
Daemon engine - Soul Grinder - Phelgm Bombardment

CSM Allied Detachment

HQ - Kharn the Betrayer

Troops - 10x cultists

Fast Attack - Heldrake - Baleflamer

Heavy Support - Land Raider - Dirge Caster

So, originally I had warp gaze on the soul grinder. Still thinking that's an option as it doesn't then have ordinance. Also contemplated taking a normal thirster and freeing up some points for a legacy of ruin on the raider....interested to hear what people think? I'm open to minor changes, but not major.

I prefer rage to wrath myself. You could use the spare points to add the legacy of the first war or Armageddon on your raider, bumping up your daemon saves

Ive ran Rage a few times now. Doesn't seem to do that well for me. The issue is, once he's on the ground he can take wounds quite fast. And then striking at initiative 1 means there's a lot that can actually wound him before he swings that big dirty axe. I do really want to make him work.

Keep him near the raider for a 4++?

Admittedly invisible or grimoire is better.

Yeah they are. But I refuse to take anything other than khorne, for fluff reasons...and I thought about that: but I'm also seriously considering not taking D weapons, no one else I play with does.

So I actually think I'll take Captyn_Bob's idea, change the wrath of khorne Bloodthirster to a bloodthirster of insensate rage. Then give the land raider the exact of ruin: first war of Armageddon to give me a +1 invulnerable save to anything with the daemon of khorne special rule....I'm assuming the maulerfiends don't get this buff?

Maulers are daemons of khorne in the KDK list.

So, in theory, the possessed, the maulerfiends, the soul grinder and the bloodthirster would all benefit? Even the heldrake when it arrives?

I honestly think that the D-thirster is the only balanced D weapon wielding model out there. So many of them are either CCWs at I4 or 5 or have long range profiles on dirt cheap LOWs. The D-Thirster may have 8 D attacks on the charge, but that's after he finally gets into combat and waits for everyone to pound on him with only a 3+/5++ keeping him "safe", then he can still get ganked by PFs, Thunder Hammers and Stomps. So I don't think you'd have to exclude him just because no one else is taking their D-weapon models when they could include them.

So I'm guessing that whoever isn't going into the Land Raider is just going to foot-slog it? If that's so, you may just exchange one of the Berzerker squads with Bloodletters because they can DS in a spot you need to be, you could get 14 of them plus a Bloodreaper and a Banner of Blood in place of them. Or you could exchange the the Soul Grinder (since he'd slow down your Land Raider giving the +1 Invul bubble to the following D-Thirster and Maulerfiends) for 2 Rhinos w/ Dozer Blades, exchange the Lightning Claws with Axes of Khorne + Combi-Melta/Flamer, and then give the Berzerkers each an Icon of Wrath.

Not the helldrake, as it isn't a KDK helldrake.

The idea was to footslog the rest. The main reason being that these are models I already own. But the idea of deep striking bloodletters is a nice one... I may decide to give that a go instead...

The soul grinder is in for multi purpose, a bit lot longer ranged firepower plus a touch of sky fire. The land raider will only likely give the +1 bubble for turn one, and maybe turn two, after that I'll be making combat and I'd imagine most things will be pretty spread out. The idea isn't to keep them all in the bubble, as that narrows me right down. But it can definitely help to hide the D-Thirster behind it for a 3+/4++ with a cover save as well.

Think I'll play test the list as is....but I'm pretty sold on the bloodletters idea. Also means more daemons of khorne on the board....

You are probably better off using the thirster to give cover to the raider. Thirster can jink for cover anyway
