Complete pain to assemble and patch seams etc, but once together it's nice enough.

Would you recommend paint then assemble or assemble then paint?

Assemble first. You'll need parts put together to cover seams. Much putty, much swearing, much sanding. I dread the Tomahawk / Defenders.
