Subject: What Are the Details of an Exterminatus Order?
It occurred to me the other day that I know what an Exterminatus order is, kind of. An inquisitor declares that the planet is no longer worth fighting for and has all life on the planet annihilated. But how ? Does he nuke it? Does he fire a bunch of nukes onto it? One big nuke? Does the ship have to be armed with a specific kind of nuke? Is it some other more fictional weapon?
I went to Hershey Park in central PA this year, and I have to say I was more than a little disappointed. I fully expected the entire theme park to be make entirely of chocolate, but no. Here in America, we have "building codes," and some other nonsense about chocolate melting if don't store it someplace kept below room temperature.

There's a few options. Virus Bomb unleashes a world ending virus that quickly eats all living organisms, then can ignite so that even the air burns. Tornado Missiles (I think that's what they were called) cause unforgiving physical devastation and destroy the balance of ecosystems, climates and nature itself. Other bombs just crack the surface and unleash the mantle of the planet to the surface. I'm sure there's a few more that have been featured.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios
Generally there are the following stages.
1) The planet is subjected to an extensive blockade and conventional bombardment to eliminate any active opposition or those attempting to flee, as well as anything that could potentially survive the virus bombs like a sealed bunker.
2) The virus bombs are launched across the planet. The virus eats away all living material and eventually consumes itself. This leaves behind copious amounts of flammable gasses.
3) Those flammable gasses are then ignited from orbit via lance strike, or another suitable weapon. This causes a planetwide firestorm which destroys just about everything, including much of the atmosphere. The planet basically becomes a giant fuel-air bomb.
4) Optional: For extra assurance, the planet itself can be destroyed with Cyclonic Torpedoes. These weapons dig deep into the planets crust and blow it apart from the inside, leaving nothing but an asteroid field.
Obligatory awesome video
