At my desk

I'm currently doing an infantry heavy Word Bearers army, and I've got some Obliterators built for heavy support, but they are always targeted, and by turn 3 or sooner, they're gone. So I'm building some Havocs to add fire output and take some of the heat off the obliterators.

So, loadout suggestions? I'm thinking either Missile Launchers or Autocannons right now.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

Autocannons are by far the best option for Havocs. Great range and utility.

Missile launchers are also cool. And multipurpose too.

General consensus is autocannons..... Just don't buy them from the havoc sprue.....

If you think your important, in the great scheme of things. Do the water test.

Put your hands in a bucket of warm water,
then pull them out fast. The size of the hole shows how important you are.
I think we should roll some dice, to see if we should roll some dice, To decide if all this dice rolling is good for the game.

I used heavy bolters with assault cannon halves. Same concept though. Cheap and easy, plus looks good.

Autocannons always if going for ranged havocs.

Havocs with specials are often overlooked though.

Yep, 4 flamer havoks with MoK or MoN are a scary thing for many lists. Plazma loadout is fine too.

Another thing is that CSM usually lack decent range support whereas autocannon havoks provided that.

You could go to FW's site and grab some.

I'm sure there used to be some really awesome chaos infantry autocannons from forgeworld, I think they came in a pack of ten, but I can't find them on the website now. Is my memory mistaken? Am I incapable of searching the site properly? Did they exist but since been removed from sale?

Just type in "Autocannon". They'll be there and they're spectacular.

I used to have three autocannon that were just the barrels of the terminator reaper autocannon glued to the front of the heavy bolter body.

The old HB model with the hip slug gun chain is too cool not to use, so you sand down the front and slap on a reaper with a huge bayonette on the front and its the best looking HS Ive had. Sadly the army was seized in a misunderstanding with a storage locker, so I don't have pics available, but I recommend it.

Tactical Note: the autocannons also help with AA a little, and in some ruins, they can survive for a decent amount of time. However if you are using them to take the heat off of your oblits, you need to make them a greater threat. Either spend the points on 4 Lascannons and hope you can grab 1-3 vehicles, earn their points back before they get focused, or put 4 meltas or plasmas in a rhino and run it at a high value unit. Either one will draw way more fire than 4 autocannons. If ruins, can go Nurgle, if Rhino can go Tzeentch, but I think both options are to expensive.

I'm sure I remember something more chaosy perhaps it was nothing more than a fevered vision.

Edit: There are two models I regret selling. One is my RT metal warboss (the one that looks like a precursor to the 2nd ed Ghazgul) and the second is the 2nd ed metal heavy bolter chaos space marine.

From the thread I started on a similar question it was suggested to go for Autocannons.

I prefer the cleaner look for Autocannons. That's just me though.
