There is a little bit of scale creep going on with them but their main body itself is the same size of the original high elves if you compare them, what makes them look bulky is they have 12 poses vs 2, the original metals were standing to the side shooting and running, they are more dynamic posed now so their cloaks and legs also give them bulk. In general most of the line after the plastic human rangers came out became scale creep bulky, the rangers by far look the strangest due to how thickly their skirts and lower bodies are. If you look at many of the later
WOTR sculpts they also suffer the same kind of scale creep.
I don't consider them perfect but I feel they all have a uniformed more elite warrior look now and I have 24 of them, I think they look decent compared to some of the plastics.

Someone posted this photo and you can see directly that the size of the plastic vs the metal are the same, secondly the metal high elves are a little bit bigger than the original plastic high elves, the original numenorians are very small today also due to scale creep, whats funny is the numenorians were rather tall. This I think comes down to the fact SBG was originally meant to be 25mm or 28mm when its clearly 32
mm now, same thing happened with fantasy battle around 4th edition onwards.
The plastic army of the dead and plastic rangers of middle earth have to be the worst ouf of scale though, they look huge compared to the entire rest of the range really.
