Thankyou for the comments, its giving me motivation to carry on working on the army. Here are some closeups of the more interesting models:








The rank and file is painted in a corner cutting and fast way to look good en-mass on the tabletop. Most of my games with them have been War of the Ring so the high body count is needed.

Nice army man! I have a ton of these models just laying around waiting to be painted and I'd like them to be finished one day!

The winged nazgal is one of my fav models! Perfect army tho man!

I've recent painted up the Necromancer for the mordor army. Unfortunetly the camera made the image look way darker then it actually is.


I've also painted up the first model for my first foray back into 40k after a long depature. I have the rest of the Command Squad to start working on then I will be moving onto the rank and file.




I'm waiting on some Gale Force snow scatter for the final stage of the base. I have never tried a snow theme for basing before.

Some more Vostroyans finished up and the snow flock arrived. I like the effect when its mixed in with the PVA.

A lot of great models - great job in particular on the trolls!

It's annoying I know but you will have to fiddle with how to take pictures a little more. Shots can still be closer - and more direct lighting would help. Keeping the shoot background plain as you have tried helps too.

Hello again.
I now have the command squad finished up for the starts of the Vostroyan army. I had a play around with how I take the pictures were taken using the tips you guys gave me. They worked a treat though it shows up how dodgy my eyes are at times.
I've taken closeups of all the imperial gaurd models but I will only put a few into here to save you from image overload.





My personal favourite model just because of the character in the sculpt:

Really lovely work on the Mordor force. I always love seeing completed LOTR armies and yours looks great.

The Vostroyan figures are beautiful, too. It's great seeing these guys getting some attention. Your banner bearer in particular is just amazing looking.

Its nothing fancy - Sycorax Bronze as a base which then gets a wash of Agrax Earthshade along with the rest of the model. I then just mix in a bit of Vallejo Silver for the highlights. Hope that helps.

That Command Squad is gorgeous. Really well done.

Progress on the first 500pts is coming along. I have my first tournament and 40k game in several years with them next week so the clocks starting to tick. Most of the way through the first squad of vets so I should (famous last words) be ok. Once that squad is done I will be down to the last 7 guys to paint.








Lighting is pretty rubbish. Still experimenting with getting a nice result with a little desk lamp provided in my accomodation.

Nice work all round dude! Getting good pictures of your models can be a pain in the but from your pictures the paintwork is excellent. I'm particularly fond of voystrans so it's pleasing to see them done well.

I have finished up my King Dain Ft and Mtd I picked up two weeks ago at Ardacon.

First set of warriors are basecoated now.

I've finished up Thorin and a war band of Iron Hill Dwarves.




Dwalin, Bifur and another warband of dwarves are next on the priority list.
