I can't decide on weather to make my set into either one...and I have an extra 2 models I can build from a friend....but what do you guys think and why? any experience with either would be really helpful, I'm down for either one, I just would like an overall opinion

I am having the same conundrum. I have one box and though I like the look of the Wrathmongers more. I think that I will build them as Skulltakers since I'm building one of the battalion warscrolls that calls for that unit.

The spear wait's not for it's master, but rushes forth to guard the way.

I much prefer the look of the Skulltakers over the Wrathmongers and they both a pretty different in game. The chain flails look like a very silly impractical weapon.

Skulltakers with ensorcelled weaponry put out a lot of hurt in terms of mortal wounds and regular wounds but their regular wounds don't have rend. Skulltakers also have a better save which helps with their survivability. Skulltakers can also cause D3 wounds when one is killed (4-5 is 1 mortal wound and 6 is D3) which so even in death they have a good chance to cause more wounds. Their ability to reroll hits and wounds depending on how many models they have slain is insanely good, rerolling those misses means you can roll more 6s and therefore more mortal wounds... nasty nasty.

Wrathmongers put out a lot of wounds with Rend AND they provide +1 attack to ALL units within 3 inches (friend and foe). I have seen this +1 attack backfire horrible though so don't leave them by themselves. On death they can make an enemy model attach themselves or their own unit which is pretty hilarious but very unreliable.

Either unit combined with a Bloodsecrator is going to provide a lot of use and threat on the battlefield. I try to bring them down with ranged attacks.

Yeah I can't get my head around that. Khorne is axes and swords. Flails and chains are more slaanesh.

Running blood reavers? Take wrathmongers!

Need a unit to be more of a killer unit? Take Skulltakers!

I would only take the wrathmongers if I could maximise that +1 buff as it is a major deal, the rend is nice but buff to all the other units is nicer
Other than that I would default to skulltakers but if I was going to add some to my bloodbound it would be the wrathmongers as I love abusing +1 attacks

I would sign this contract but I already ate the potato

GENERATION 9: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

I think the legs are all you need to make both from a single box so if you have spare legs, some blood reavers who don't need their lower bodies or basic home casting skills you should make both.

I don't know that the size of the legs would match up from reavers...

I haven't played with either, but on paper, I think the Wrathmonger's ability (upon death) to make the enemy attack themselves has a lot of potential, but I'm not sure how it plays out in practice. If you could get them into contact with something like a Celestant Prime or other heavy hitter, it could be huge, but as ground troops, that may not be super likely.

“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”
