Subject: Eldar Models as Tau?

Discalimer: I am a very enthusiastic conversionist/modeler. I am rarely content with "out of the box" minis. Almost every model I own is noticable unique.
I have recently won 2 tourneys with an Eldar/Necron allied list consisting of a WK, scatter & Shuricannon jetbikes and 2 Canoptek Harvest Formations. However, I detest "Come the Apoc" allies, I am only playing this list in tourneys.
In friendly games I play solo-Eldar, Eldar/ DE or solo-Daemons. The only Necrons I own are for the Canoptek Formations (so only between 600-700pts). But with the new Tau coming out, I am debating playing a small Tau force to allie with my Canptek harvest formation. I do not want to start a new army, but want some opinions on whether the following models can be Tau standins:
Originally converted to be WraithKnights, I was thinking these could be Riptides:

Converted as 'Corsair Avengers' these could be Fire Warriors:
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aFxGR_gbojQ/T5rzhGtYuPI/AAAAAAAAAvM/VIm-YctInME/s1600/Kabalite%2BAvengers.JPG
I used to have these, but sold them on eBay. If the new Tau book is good, I might redo some:

No not at all
Those eldar proxy units would confuse me way too much. They don't even have tau weapons or anything else that could make them vaguely recognizable as tau. I'm sorry but this does not make any sense to me, pls just use them as eldar models.
I would rather like to play against paperhammmer tau.

If you are doing a tau themed elder army I can see it, but not a straight tau with it. Needs more tau weapons and feel. Very eldary still. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh god the paperhammer lol. I would rock a paper army.

If you fielded this in a gaming night I might play you once. But the second time I would not like it and strongly suggest using your eldar codex or borrowing some actual tau models.
I would be not amused at all if you fielded this as tau in a played tournament, I might even ask the TO to remove all inappropriate models from the board. The only thing that could make it worse is if you proxied the cheesiest models in the codex with it. Seriously this makes the marine players who try to pass off their army as an other marine faction with a newer and better codex look good.

This would be the bare minimum of conversion work to pull it off

I'm not trying to call you out, but your army lists sound awful and I shudder to think of fighting against them. You sound like TFG who goes to the extent to bring the most broken toys ever.
OT, no. I think they are still way too Eldar, and as much as I hate Tau, these wouldn't pass in my mind.

Sorry man but that would confuse me a lot, also eldar subbing for Tau is somehow so anticlimatic.

Those models are really pretty but I have no idea how they'd count for Tau anything, or frankly even the Wraithknights etc. they're supposed to be counting as.

Well....Thanks, I guess. That pretty much kills that idea. I was planning on doing more conversion work, but not with this much hate.
And yes, I am TFG when tourneys are concerned. My LGS allows anything and everything and I got tired of facing ForgeWorld/Unbound and all kinds of other stuff I couldn't face or didn't know existed in 40K. So I started taking harder lists.
In friendly games I DO NOT play this. I was just trying to find a way to run my Canoptek Formations without getting more Necrons (cuz then I'd be tempted to play a Decurion) or without having to buy a bunch of Gundam...I mean Tau models.

For gods sake play the Decurion. The Decurion is strong but at leasts if feels like an army. I would rather face a Decurion style army then a collection of the powerfull necrons units suplimented with a the powerfull tau units. Armies like that don't feel like an army and are no fun to play against. They make playing the game feel like playing with a young nephews toys while he insist in playing (and winning) with the good guys who just happen to include all of his random favourite toys. Trying to sell your old cheese as new cheese only makes it worse. It is not only too confusing but also tells the other player that you used to play hated list A, changed to hated B when B out shined A, but could not care enough about the game to put some effort in the transition.
A decurion will get you some comments at worse this army would induce rage to all but the most indifferent tournament players.

One problem.
Heights, sizes and such. Unless your units are exactly the same size then your modeling for advantage. Models could be shorter , thinner. Easier cover saves.
Weapon line of sights, not being the same.
It's rather hard to make one army from another.

I'd be fine if the weapons weren't count as. My basic rule is that if keeping track of your list is work for me, no thank you, you didn't do your job well enough
That said, stunning models, well done.
