Hi guys,

i will be playing this weekend friendly tournament. Its going to be my first tournament ever

Restrictions are no FW, no Super heavy/gargantuan, max 1 flayer/FMC, no fortifications and 1 detachement.

I have no idea what to expect so i wanted to ask you what are your thoughts on my list. Can it last/win against most of things out there? Bare in mind its friendly tournament. TO told me that sometimes there is something "little bit stronger" So thats all info ive got

So my list:

Juggerlord with axe of blind fury, sigil and melta bombs

5x spawn

11x cultists with autoguns

6 marines in rhino - plasma gun

1x Heldrake - baleflamer

1x Obliterator - MoN

1x Obliterator - MoN

849pts

The only issue I see here is that you're playing a low point game yet using high point tactics. This can actually work very well for you if the enemy has nothing to counter, but if they do you will be decimated with not enough models on the table to spread around. It's a balanced list in terms of utility but you put a lot of faith on that Juggernaut.

Let's look at your heavy hitters...

The Juggerspawns demolish everything they touch. That's a given but they'll take a lot of fire if they're the only thread on the board.

Cultists and basic Rhino marines with a single Plasma Gun are not going to threaten anyone. These are your objective holders. Cultists sit on objectives near your board edge and marines drive out to camp an enemy one.

The Heldrake is a later game demolisher of everything that walks and talks. Even against Terminators, a vector strike can ignore their armor. But it's only killing a few things per turn.

The Obliterators are fantastic for knocking out armored vehicles or just popping into existence on an objective.

Between the Heldrake and Oblits, you can eliminate anything you need to. Controlling the battlefield will be your priority and the only ground force worth anything you have for that is the Juggernaut swarm. Assuming the enemy has nothing that can stop the Juggernaut, you'll be fine. But if he has a list that can wipe out this one unit (like say... by challenging him to a duel), you're toast. The Heldrake will not be taking objectives, the Oblits will die to volume of fire, and your other choices are squishy troops.

Your biggest problem is going to be volume of fire armies. At 850, Space Marines can afford to bring over 30 guys in full squads with deadly heavy weapons or grav cannons. Plus a Dreadnought to handle your spawn blob. Plus drop pods... which have objective secured and are tough to kill.

It's called a thick skin. The Jersey born have it innately.

Thanks for reply. I agree with you on every single point

I already playtested this list on my friends Tau list which he going to take for that same tournament and it didnt do to well. But on the other hand i think it cant get much more shootier than that.
Also i was impossibly unlucky with reserves, otherwise i think it would be pretty even game.

So any thought how to improve it? I also have 2 Maulerfiends, but like i said it friendly tournament and i dont really want to go heldrake and 2x maulerfiends in one list and bringing one feels like just giving my oponent some target for his melta guns.

Or another variant would be:

Juggerlord with axe of blind fury, sigil and melta bombs

5x spawn

6x Marines with plasma in rhino

5x Marines with melta and champ with combi melta in rhino with dozer blades

2x Maulerfiend with magmacutters

Thoughts? Which one do you guys think is more "well-rounded"?

2 Rhinos to go fwd with your spawns/juggy are great, they can provide cover while you move around the table, I'd suggest adding dozer blades and dirge caster for both.

At such low points your enemy will need to focus their heavy guns to bring the rhinos down.

I'm not sure about the maulefiends thou. I'd probably get one or to oblies instead and try to boost the Marines as 5 CSM aren't going to hold their ground.

CSM aren't really good atm, specially vanilla ones. But If I had to go with a fun list that will probably do OK on a tourney I'd go:

Juggerlord, AoBF, sigil, meltabombs

10x CSM with 2 plasmas and bolters, champion with melta bomb - Rhino with dozer blades & dirge caster

10x CSM with 2 meltas and bolters & CCW, champion with melta bomb - Rhino with dozer blades & dirge caster

5x Spawns

1x Oblie MoN

Total 849

You pretty much just move fwd, rhinos infront, move 12" and then flatout for another 6" on the first turn, screening the lord and spawns. The oblie wither deploys on an objective in your side and uses his long range to deal dmg to key units.

2nd turn you should be within charge range of at least a unit with your juggy, unload one of the rhinos (plasmas) to sit on a mid table objective and fire their 24" hopefully 12" rapid fire plasmas. If there is a MC or 2+sv unit move fwd instead and rapid fire them from the rhino. Move the rhino unto the enemy line for the dirgecaster to negate overwatch. The other rhino with the meltas can go further in as they have bolters and CCW, either unload them of from the rhino try to open any armor on their side. If you disembark them they can rapidfire with the bolters and 2 meltas a unit and serve as a reinforcement charge on the 3rd turn.

This is ideal and probably one of your rhinos will blow up on the first turn or get immobilized, but the other one should survive at 850 and allow you to play around with the marines inside and the dirge caster.
