Generally speaking, does any sort of news ever come out of the 40K Open Days? Does GW even communicate with people at these, such as through a Q&A or something?

Main GW news is rare, in line with their general policy of not letting you know that new products exist until they're ready to take your money. FW news is common, and since this is a home event we should expect to see something interesting. I don't know about BL news.

GW basically does zero communication. Stuff might start leaking a couple of weeks before something is going to be released, anything beyond that is vague at best. GW basically does zero communication with customers pretty much period.

Forgeworld can be a little better about it, but mainline GW doesn't do Q&A, communication, or news for squat.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Somewhere in the announcement for it, they said something about being able to talk to the designers.

Mostly, what I want to know is, will someone be able to hound them about errata. Because 10 months without errata when there are things that absolutely need errata (such as the RWSF HQ issue) is just appalling. That should have been fixed the week the book came out. Though since FW isn't run by complete morons, hopefully they will let us know when IA2:2E will see errata.

You can, but GW designers rarely, if ever, tell you any news about upcoming releases. They'll gladly tell you how awesome the already-released stuff is and how you should buy it, but that's about it. FW's designers tend to be a lot more open about unreleased stuff, they won't tell you everything and usually what you do get is fairly general but the after-event reports usually have some interesting news from people talking to the designers.

Mostly, what I want to know is, will someone be able to hound them about errata.

You can, but they won't listen. GW's policy is that they don't do FAQs anymore.

Has this been explicitly stated before? I know they are dickbags and think that their customers' opinions don't matter, but that is just plain stupid.

It's been 10 months or so since the last erratas came out and there are still problems within the Necron Codex that need addressing.

Anyone hoping for an errata is probably going to be waiting another ten months, or at least if 40k goes Age of Sigmar then the rules/errata will be online (along with the ability to re-roll your charge range, provided you stroke your manly beard while rolling the dice).

Someone got an answer from GW's investor relations department a while back. It was essentially "we don't do FAQs because we don't want to tell people how to play the game and take away their right to choose the answer that they like". Which fits entirely with GW's history of "casual at all costs": over-use of the "4+ it" rule, tournaments that are like sports for kids where everyone gets a participation trophy, etc. It's pretty clear at this point that the lack of FAQs is a deliberate decision to stop writing them, not the guy in charge of the FAQs failing to realize that there's a question to answer.

Well, if nothing else, if they get asked about FAQs and Errata enough, it will probably make the designers uncomfortable. Unfortunately, these guys aren't the ones that decided that FAQs are a waste of time.

I don't think GW have a policy not to release FAQs so much as they fail to have an active policy to release them on a regular basis.

The webstore basically is structed to allow you to order goods. There are FAQs buried low down under the Customer Service page, but it's not a feature like the old Temple of Knowledge or whatever it was called a few years ago. Nothing has been updated since Jan 2015.

They used to be a lot better than this, which is part of why so many veterans have become so resentful and anti-GW.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Trust me, it isn't just the veterans. If they used to be better than this, you would think declining market share and falling profits would cause a light to go on somewhere. Then again, based on their reports, there is a degree of willful ignorance on their part that is just astounding.
