My brothers B-day is comming up and he's playing a smurf army.
I wanted to give him a character model for his birthday, but I am not quite sure which.

So what is your favourite Ultramarines HQ?

He currently has Marneus Calgar, but mostly uses him as a chapter master.
Here a quick summary of his army:

1 Marneus
1 Chaplain (Termi Armor)
1 Command Squad
3 Tac Squads, 2 Drop pods
1 Scout Squad
2 Dreads
1 Assault Termi Squad
2 Regular Termi Squads
1 Assault Squad
3 Land Speeders (typhoons)
1 Storm Talon
1 Devastator Squad
1 Land Raider
1 Vindicator
1 Predator
2 Rhinos

I was thinking of either a Techmarine, Something with a jump pack (captain or chaplain), Captain Sicarius or Tigurius.

Reading their rules, they all sound pretty fun...
What do you guys think?

Using Calgar as a normal chapter master?
THAT IS HERESY ON ALL LEVELS!!!
Besides that I would suggest Varro Tigirius. He's an exceptionally good pysker and his model is pretty good. Either that or Roboute Gulliman from ForgeWorld.

Tigurius or Sergeant Telion. Telion has a pretty cool looking model, and Tigurius is also quite nice.

A jump chaplain to go with his assault squad would fit nicely. I recently counted all the HQs I fielded in the last year[ and he was my personal favorite. Bike HQs are in a good place these days, but he doesn’t have a squad to put them with. Bunch of terminators, so a TDA Librarian might not be a bad choice.

All of the named UM characters have their perks. Tigurius is one of the best psychers in the game, and a solid pick if he’s still running a CAD.

Do you know what direction he’s building his army in? Right now he’s one dev squad away from fielding a Gladius formation. He’s already got three vets squads for the 1st co. TF to go with the demi company. If he is heading into a formation based list, some HQs fit better then others.

He’s shy one tank and a techmarine if he wants to run an armored TF.

I think Tigurius is the best choice. He's a psychic beast, and does well in any role (support, assault, etc.).

Concur

Though Calgar probably doesn't earn is points, he's an assault beast now

Don't get me wrong, Calgar is the dumbest of all the Smurfs, but his model always makes me smile despite myself. Something about double Powerfists with awesome bolters attached going all Incredible Hulk on a guy appeals to the kid in me.

Calgar is my favourite, more so because of how he's shown in stuff like this and that Emperor thing.



But out of the rest I'd say go with Tigurius, he's the most useful and fun out of the rest.

A character for his birthday? Personally that should be something really special. I'd really go with Guilliman...that's a birthday present.
