Hey. I'm just a random guy, not very interested by the tabletop game itself. I've been playing the video games (Dawn of War, Space Marine) for several years, and I really like the fluff and backstory. I'm what you'd call a Sci-Fi nerd.
I've already posted a few times in the 40k Background subforum, and the Dakka Fiction one.

(I never liked those presentation/introduction posts, they're awkward as hell.)

Its surprising how many people I know have got into the hobby after playing Dawn of War. What draws you in with the fluff?

I don't know, I like its grimdark, over the top setting. This, and its very rich, the canonicity of most events is dubious at best, leaving a lot of room to personal interpretation.
I'm not much into fanfic, tho. I'm trying to create a custom Chapter ( http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/667055.page ) but I don't want to fall into Ultrasmurfs levels of sheer stupidity.
