So I'm going to be getting two squads of 6 RW bikers and I'm wondering which is the superior Speeder?

The Burble

Darkshroud. It's basically unlikable with conventional shooting and means your bikers Just. Don't. Die. If you build assault heavy with characters and knights the shroud gets even better.

Nonsense. The Battle Company box is perfect for filling out your ranks of aspect warriors with a large contingent from the Screaming Baldies shrine.

Definitely the Dark Shroud. The Vengeance is likely to blow itself up. The Dark Shroud in the form of the Ravenwing Support Squadron, who get Interceptor and are never going to die is the way to go.

The Land Speeder Vengeance is not as volatile as everyone makes it out to be and is pretty killy (AP2 pie plates are nothing to sneeze at), but the Darkshroud is far better, especially if you run Black Knights. 2+ rerollable jink FTW! If you can, make the model so that you can switch between the two and give them both a try (I did!).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Yeah, the DarkShrouds' support definitely seems like it makes it superior (3+ rerollable even for regular bikers, fear, and no overwatch within 6"!) but I was just curious if there was something about the Vengeance I was missing.

Also, the weapons are twin-linked are they? They're just regular right?

The LSV's weapons are not twin-linked (sadly). If they were, more people would run them since they would be much less likely to blow themselves up.

Well, I was also reffering to the Dark Shroud lol does anyone else run with the assault cannon upgrade? I know it limits range but if I'm going to be within six inches of my bikes anyway I'm probably going to be up in someone's face and that rending looks sweet

I keep it base as the thing tends to be a big target with the buff it gives to bikes so its usually jinking making the assault cannon a waste.

You think? It's a 15 point upgrade, and even thinking, you get an extra shot, +1 S and Rending. The biggest thing I see is the range, but you have to be within 6" to give the bikers stealth anyways

I personally find it a waste but I'd give it a try and see how you like it if you can.
