I wish. I just... Struggle to find a use. He has fairly accurate deep strike, so get close and hit him with grimoire or invisible or something as a distraction carnifex. But so many points.

But he makes blessings worse , so that whole idea is stupid.

I guess in a daemonkin army is you can overwhelm with msu like hounds , samus could be a decent smasher. Still prefer the knight.

As a Lord of War, he's so-so.

Born of Murder is useful if you have plenty of shooting in your army - he's likely (3+ roll, remember) to turn up on turn 2, so you want to be landing shells from skull cannons, defilers, etc, etc butchering characters in your opponent's lines on turn 1, so he can drop in there on turn 2.

Increasing the costs of blessings is nice when facing grey knights, eldar, or....well, any army build around blessings. The former especially, because a nemesis strike force really doesn't like people messing with its reserve rolls.

Is a knight better? Well, cannon, and foe-reaper. But Samus dosn't need the speed if he starts up close and he's still a real bugger to face. As a character he can issue challenges and there aren't many opponents who'll survive going toe-to-toe, especially with hatred infantry.

At the same time, he's really meant for horus heresy games. Non-infantry characters are a lot rarer, fear and leadership tricks are massively more dangerous and Lord Of The Ruinstorm is officially the schiznitz. Not to mention you still have your Lord Of War slot free....

So basically he ain't special unless he's in hh games. Ehhhh. Guess I'll stick to saving up for anggrath.

Note that Anggrath comes with his own problems - primarily the fact that you can't use him in anything short of >3500 point games, even with an unbound army.

I would argue he is allowed in unbound. Tho it is a stupid stupid restriction.
The formation with him and 8 bloodthirsters is ridiculous, but a bit cheaper I think.
