Digging through one of my many Boxes of Shame, I came across two Furioso dreadnoughts, one of which has a blob of rock-hard milliput on its face. I apparently tried to modify it, failed, and then gave up. A quick google search reveals that acetone (nail polish remover) will soften milliput within a ew days of hardening, but this stuff is at least fifteen years old. Will acetone do the job? Or do I need to find something more toxic?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Acetone will eat the model, don't do that at all.

I'd freeze it and try to ~percussively maintain~ it (hit it with a hammer)

I don't think acetone dissolves metal, but I'll try the freezer thing first.

Acetone will not damage the metal model; however, since it is 15 years old I'd just try to crack it off, like use Super Glue to temporarily glue your models so you can paint them. btw anything you are willing to get rid of from the 'Box of Shame'?

Oh sorry, I didn't read it was metal - acetone will indeed be completely safe for that

Update: I pulled out the model in question, gave the offending milliput a twist, and it came right off. Much easier than I thought. Now I just have to rebuild the details that I removed in the failed attempt at conversion...

Estasol, acetone, dettol, iso alcohol and biotstrip will turn milliput and Greenstuff gummy enough to remove, for future reference.
