Hello,

Recently we had the opportunity to create an Ulthwe-themed Wraithknight, converted to have a kneeling pose and placed upon a winter-themed base.

It was a really nice project, and it came out nicely – visit our gallery and take a look at the pictures below – pay attention to little details such as Ulthwe-characteristic pattern, visor and soulstones!

How do you like our approach to Ulthwe?

The Visor and the gems are what gets me, looks very cool. The pose is amazing too, makes me excited and cannot wait to pick one up for my wife!

It's pretty great
I like the stippled approach to the gems over the usual as well.

The only problem though is the posing on the right heal is off to the foot's direction (foot is straight heal is a hard left meaning the foot would have gone right since it isn't placing its weight on that leg) but that doesn't really matter as it's pretty minor.

Definitely my favorite piece to come out of your studios. Very well done on all levels. Bravo.

The faceplate is pretty insane tbh.

How did you do it?

Love the paint job, but the pose is all wrong, looks like it is tripping over a rock.

Great paintjob but not a big fan of the pose - but I guess some will like it! I too got the impression of him tripping over the rock, especially with the left hand with the spread fingers.

Airbrushed white through a sponge, then work out with glazes on it

Gems and faceplate are really good. I don't like the big rune on the back. It looks like you've just randomly airbrushed an OSL on it. Feels like that area deserves more attention.

That, sir, is an awesome Wraithknight! The visor and gems are the best parts. The only issue I see is that the OSL on the guns is perhaps a bit heavy. Not enough to detract from the overall piece though!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

I was actually admiring the rune on the back. It looks really good with the simple OSL focused at the top, imo

Great work!

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Painting is great as usual, but I don't think the pose works. Having the shin on the rock with the toe dangling looks like he has tripped or fallen on that side, rather than kneeling.

The faceplate is gorgeous, though.

I cannot help but agree with insaniak about the posing.
Thought the rest of the model is excellent and I would still be proud to own such a piece of art

Model is really god dam epic, especially on the face plate.
I have to agree with previous comments that the pose looks off.

+1 for the very creative technique on the faceplate. Not only is it truly unique, but it looks stunning and just the right amount of eerie and macabre to suit the model.

I agree with the general consensus that the pose seems unnatural, it's not the way that any 'thing' would position itself unless it either is falling, or has fallen and is righting itself.

The edging and highlights are great, the gems are very neat - the only thing that really takes away from it is the terrible airbrush overkill on the starcannons - OSL overdose. I'm sure it's "what the customer ordered" but airbrushing has historically been you guys' Achilles Heel - looks like this model is a step in the right direction! Kudos!

Further examination - the runes on the hilt of the sword and the large rune on the back could also be better. They are intricate pieces and just airbrushing a circle in the middle of a rune (that isn't even a circular shape) just looks lazy. Not saying it IS lazy, it's just the impression it gives - especially when compared to other parts of the model that are clearly done with much more TLC.

Cool pose. Really like how you've approached the gem/face guard it works really well.
