One of the things that I have noticed in my local fantasy wargaming group is that people are playing Kings of War a lot - and by a lot I mean more than Warhammer was being played, even before 8th edition and Age of Sigmar.

We have two players that quit playing when Skull Pass came out that have dusted off their armies for use in KoW.

*EDIT* Another is seeing how well his Dogs of War have fared in storage.

Is this something that is happening with other groups?

The Auld Grump

*EDIT* The Dogs of War are fine, but we may need to house rule the Galloper Guns....

I can get three meaningful, large games, in in a night, and feel like I am making tactical, meaningful, gaming choices, versus barely fitting in one game, with net-listed, magic-phase dominated, gameplay.

Needless to say KoW has completely replaced WHFB.

I played WHFB more frequently at my peak of playing. But I'm playing more KoW games since they're easier to cram in time-wise.

currently playing: ASoIaF | Warhammer 40k: Kill Team

other favorites:
FO:WW | RUMBLESLAM | WarmaHordes | Carnevale | Infinity | Warcry | Wrath of Kings

Another thing that I have noticed is that people are going back to having multiple armies - with most of us having at least two playable armies of at least 1,500 points. (I have more than two....)

I haven't seen this in Warhammer since about fourth or fifth edition.

I have Kingdoms of Men/ League of Rhordia, Undead, Dwarfs, and am working on Empire of Dust.

Agreed. My wife and I have two proper ones each, and a third allied sized option in each of our pockets. More than anything KoW encourages me to hunt for perfect models from different lines, and just savor the hobby side more, in general.

Sadly, KOW came out long after I moved over here, and I have yet to find any regular opponents...

My buddy and I are the only fantasy players I know of in the area. I ordered the kow2 rulebook through my FLGS so after our DnD campaign we are going to play some KoW. I'm pretty new to the area but most people I talked to sold their WHFB armies during 7th edition. GW killed the fantasy scene in this area with their poor rules and op armies. WMH, x wing and magic are the most played games in the area. Of the three stores in the area only a few boxes of GW fantasy models are on the shelves. If I want to play other people I'm going to have to take the 100 mile round trip Pittsburgh where KoW if really gaining a lot of players interest in the game.

We are currently playing low points (100-1200) at the shop and guys are showing up with two armies and getting at least two games in.

It is generating wonderful traffic as there are "loaner" armies out there for newbies to try.

Respectfully,
