We know that Chaos feeds through emotions and humanity is essential to them, but would that be the end from them if we die? or 90% of humanity is wiped?

Is it really possible that Chaos God dies permamently?

The Chaos Gods only die permanently if they expend all of their energy or are consumed by another Warp God. So, basically, even if all life in the Milky Way were to die simultaneously (which give a huge power bonus to the Chaos Gods, as they consumed the souls of the dead), they could just do nothing for the next 20 million years until more life evolves (this wouldn't expel any energy), and still be just as powerful as when everyone died.

However, if all humans were to die, the Warp would still be destabilized, as human emotions are what destablized it in the first place, it would just slowly become stabler and less evil over time. Or, considering how Chaos already has a major foothold in the galaxy, they would probably just start expanding unchecked out of the Eye of Terror and enslave half the galaxy; feeding Chaos Gods more evil energy and resulting in an endless reign of Chaos over the Galaxy, that would eventually spread to other galaxies and create an ultimate Universal Chaos Empire.

We must all join the Kroot-startes...

Human beings aren't the only living things in the galaxy.

I thought current fluff was that the warp became unstable(r) during the War in Heaven.

Yeah, the war in heaven occurred over 65 million years ago.

This thread comes up a lot, and the majority of posts seem to assume that with humanity gone, the warp would go too. Humans are just a major feeder. There are other races that do it.

Awesome answer.

Do you think Chaos presents more threat then Tyrannids for humanity or even Necrons?

Tyranids present a more immediate threat, but Chaos is insidious. No matter what you do, there will always me a way for Chaos to feth you up. Knocking back the nids is just a pastime compared to that.

Eldar are remarkably resilient to temptation having learned that lesson the hard way, Necrons and Tyranids are pretty much in the emotionless/soulless drone category so cannot really be tempted into worship, Tau are oddly absent in the Warp (so it's kind of like bobbing for apples trying to get a Tau), Squats are extinct and Orks pretty much have that whole Gork/Mork thing going for them.

At this point I'm wondering exactly what the Chaos powers would end up focusing on. House cats? Hrud? Kroot?

Now only a CSM player.

They do also feed off action. Orkz feed Khorne.

Nurgle is the god of entropy, so the heat death of the universe will make him king.

Aside from that, there are thousands of minor alien races in the 40k galaxy, and we cannot confirm that the chaos gods don't extend to other galaxies.
