So the leaks say the base Tau codex hasn't changed just new things added. Obviously there will be good formations but don't know what they are yet. However the big bonus us that the Ethereals storm of fire effects the Stormsurge, so with the Pulse Driver that's 4 S10 Ap2 large blasts at 36" if stationary. So here's the list:

So any invisistar dies as I drop in the Culexus and then pump them with S10 ignores cover rounds. Plenty of anti MSU with the Broadsides, Stormsurge and Commander able to target multiple units. Plenty of ignores cover. Plenty of AT. GMCs are the only real concern though 4 S10 blasts a turn will hurt them bad. I want to get a PEN Chip on the Commander for extra help vs GMC but can't find 15 points I can spare.

What do you think?

I think it's a cool idea but it will suffer the same fate as the rvarna. Initially people were using ethereals to buff the rvarna to shoot 8 large blasts. You are talking about the same thing but with this suit. The issue is that gw almost immediately FAQd this so that the ethereal cannot do buff the rvarna. If you lock down and then further buff with storm of fire that would be rediculous if not super fun to play with and super hate inducing to loose against.

Invisibility still ruins tau competitiveness.

Forgeworld FAQ'd the R'Varna, GW doesn't do FAQs so I wouldn't hold my breath. I'd murder any invisistar with this. This is for competitive play.

Is the Ethereal bunkering down with one of the Broadside units? Seems like He'll be singled out pretty fast which would diminish your ace in the hole by half. Also how is the PEN chip helping this list all that much? If you join the commander to the other Broadside unit, then 4 of the 7 markerlights in the list become much less useful and an easy target,

PEN chip is for Commander to help deal with Gladius (he's a reasonable shot at downing an AV11 vehicle a turn with it), however it is mainly for Wraithknight spam. Rerolling to wound with a unit of Braodsides will make more difference than 2 extra ML hits in that matchup. Unless I need ignores cover in which case he sticks with the drones. It is about options.

Yes the Ethereal hangs out with a unit of sides unless I can completely hide him from LoS and protect him better that way.

I like the list i prefer using tetras for my markerlights for the extra mobility and points wise on there own there more effective than patfinders or (non DC) drones but 4 are better for pure Mls with a commander going with them (guessing thats what your doing) if not 1 tetra has more chance for markerlight hits than 4 drones (and is cheeper even with disruption pods)

Yes I have a Drone Controller commander.

Once those drones are gone you won't have in gores cover so ravenwing would give you a hard time

I should have read who was posting the list before commenting, and taken into account the celexus in the pod. I'm not familiar with his rules but I assume you know what you are talking about with him.

I personally like the tetras better than the commander and marker drones but like you said he's there to help with wraithknights. Please post a batrep. I want to see the celexus shut down and invis star.

In 2 turns of shooting I should have killed the important stuff (6 S10 Ap2 ignores cover blasts and the missilesides). Remember the Skyray has 2 Bs4 MLs too and that the Mark'o can JSJ so won't be getting shot at unless you have pods which then need to survive interceptor...

Ravenwing is not a major concern.

Take the tac squad out of the drop pod. Put the Assassin in there.

Can't it is a dedicated transport. Also why would I do that instead of just putting the assassin in the empty pod? This way I get to choose if I want the Assassin in turn 1 or 2 AND I don't break any rules...
