Drop ALL the heavy armor. Buy
-Boys
-Tankbustas.
I used to struggle with both those lists/issues. Problem being , salamanders gets plenty of ap4 flamers, negating the 'ard boy upgrade. So get more bodies.
Tankbustas do well against knights in suicide squads of 7 or so. Just enough to survive to get a couple swings in. Hell, I (admittedly a bit luckily) once first-blooded a knight because he got super close due to some weird rule jankery, and I was able to pull the assault turn 1. Sunk him using 8 tankbustas backed by a big mek in MA with a killsaw.

By cutting the heavy armor from the boyz you could have roughly 192 points free. This could get you two squads of five tankbustas in trukk with ram (you might need two points).

Consider running squads of ten boyz instead of twelve. Why twelve? Running ten could save 48 points.

Dakkajet gets in on turn two at the earliest. At that time I assume you want everything to be stuck in (thus protected from shooting) except what is left of your trukks (meh?).

The Dakkajet has to be around 145 points.

145 Dakkajet - 48 Ten man squads - 192 points from Heavy Armor = 385ish points

Could be a couple squads of tankbustas in trukks swinging meltabombs

Maybe some Lootas also, if you are worried about them being shot off the board turn one you could walk them on turn two and they would only be as inefficient as the dakkajet. Maybe you could afford two traktor kannon instead sincem, I assume, you needed the dakkajet for fliers.

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

12 boyz is what a trukk can hold? maximise. also one boy in a 10 unit dies.. mob rule now hurts more.

Dakajet is proberbly not great, but Its more a love for the model, although so far its helped having a flyer.

Heavy armour is there because I play vs droppod sallies, this so far is: sternguard combi flamers. tacticals, melta, flamer. thats alot of overwatch with no saves alot of boyz dead with no saves. 10 boyz in a trukk beging hit by 2 flamers and 8 boltgunz, dosnt make a 6+ feel confident.

Tankbustas have been one of the things Id possibly get in the future, But I find them to be very big bullet magnets. There great anti tank I will admit, its something to think about.

You've given me something to think about though, I guess I just like 4+ saves from my necron days.

I like my dakkajet to understand completely : )

Something else to think about, especially considering the magnetic properties of tankbustas;

-AP3 versus power armor is nice
-Str 8 tankhunter versus the metal boxes is very nice.

If you want to talk about maximizing the way I do it then lets talk about using the 780 points of Ork Boyz you have and making it four squads of grots at 140 points. You would have 640 points left over which could squeeze in six squads of five tankbustas with trukk equipped with ram. Thirty Tankbustas MSU'd to six units with 40 points to spare.

An ork with thirty rokkitz isn't worried about power armor, knights, or any metal box. With thirty Bikes with FnP and a lucky stikk boss I don't see how your opponent has any time to consider shooting such small squads of tankbustas.

This is an extreme example. But it's worth thinking about what you are giving up buying the token Boyz squad with Powerklaw Nob these days. They made tankbustas good. If you are worried about a tech marine fortifying some cover for some scouts, or a centstar, or a bunch of termies, then maybe you need some ork boyz to throw at it, but power armor salamanders with droppods and a knight need shot with rokkitz, all the rokkitz. My thoughts.

If you were going to take such drastic measures you could also consider some kopta's with TL rokkitz instead of tankbustas maybe if you wanted some scouting pressure. Also, if you want something that stands in fire and really doesn't care, a squad of meganobz could do nicely.

Hell put a squad or two of the grots in some FA trukkz and send that rolling dumpster fire of thirty five points at some marines who need to lose a shooting phase on 3 point models.

You make some sound valid points.

Although I hate grots, unless there manning da big gunz.

Might have to find a way to get at least one unit of tankbusta's in there, somewhere..

I dono it could just be me and shooting XD always prefered stabby over dakka
