Alright so I have a 750 doubles tournament approaching (I'm Marines with Knight Allies, my partner is Chaos). The only rule is no unbound.

I have used 465 points on a Knight Crusader (Cheese yes, but it's my first game with it so I'm excited!) leaving me only 285 points to spare...

I'm looking for input on something awesome yet well-rounded, ideal to play against all armies. Any ideas?

You need bodies to hold objectives- incase your buddy is also a Low model count army.

285 isnt a lot of points TBH- id highly recommend taking off some points from the knight, though ill see what I can do with your 285,

First off Hq, take a librarian to possibly buff your knight. Roll on divination for him, take ML 2.

you need atleast 1 troop choice for allied detachment, so roll with either a tac squad or scout squad. Tactical is recommended for holding back objectives, though scouts arnt to shabby in cover either.

Alternatively you could bring a formation, either the scout 10th company strike force to hold objectives and have a 2+ cover in ruins, (though this might be hard) or you could go the less recommended route and take the librarius conclave and take 3 PA ML2 Librarians, or 3 TDA ML 1 Librarians.

Either way its going to be a hard fit, good luck.

Can't do allied with an Oathsworn Detachment. Oathsworn is not allowed to be your Primary.

I'd agree with the Scout Formation using Raptors tactics. Good bonuses to hide with, and it's not a CAD, so no Obj Sec, but you make up for it by being able to take five Scout Squads at 275pts, all with Rending options.

How would I take Marines with an Imperial Knight without going unbound then?

Surely a CAD as my primary with an Oathswarn is legal?

Any Detachment as your primary and then Oathsworn is legal. Your primary doesn't have to be a CAD. It can be ANY Formation or Detachment that doesn't specifically say that it can't be your Primary or your Warlord can't be from it.
