-) Imperial Knight // Dreadnought, moves to assault a pack of marines who're up in the second level of a ruin, without enough space to fit the base on that second level - can they Walker get into CC?

-) is it possible for marines to deny CC if they've spread out across the entire 2nd level so that there's not even 1" for the model to stand up there on with them on that 2nd floor - can the Walker get into CC?

Thank you so much for your help!

Isn't covered by the rules since it explicitly states you must be able to get base to base contact unless behind an aegis or barricade? This kind of shenanigan is why hiding atop a skyshield full of troops can prevent an assault if there are no gaps..

There is mention in the rules that models incapable of standing on their own can be placed as close as possible, and be 'recognized' as standing in the other, particular, spot; to hold the model in that spot during times of checking LoS, distancing, etc...

As far as this goes for CC tho, no mention. However, it's very implicit that a model must -meet base to base- to get a Charge off.

So, yeah - definitely wanted to see what you guys have found, in your experiences.

is it stupid-super-cheese to deny in this way, or is it sound tactics?

Yeah, it comes down entirely to whether you allow Wobbly Model Syndrome to apply to the situation. If you do, then so long as the model has sufficient movement to move into base contact, you're good to go. If not, then no, the unit is unassaultable.
