Subject: Tyrannids vs Dark Eldar - 1500pts - Video Batrep
Yes! It's a converted raider, I made it with inspiration from the forgeworld tantalus. It's made from a single ravager set cut and repositioned. I have some WIP pics that I will post on the blog soon.
Has anyone run a list with 6 or 7 drop spores!? I feel it would be a great build.
Ooh sounds tempting. But in a 1500 point game that's ~1/3 of your points, not to mention what you're going to be putting in them AND you need some 1st turn prescence AND reserve manipulation with so many pods so it's a tight fit.

I've done pod spam at 2000 points, but it's weak for the reasons pointed out above and few more. You need some ground prescence to not be tabled before your forces can arrive, you need reserve manipulation to get that critical mass of shooting the turn you drop, instead of coming down piecemeal and be easily overwhelmed.
With Tyranids, you also need synapse babysitters to keep your units shooting.
Best units to drop in a Tcyte are Dakkafexes, but they have a ~50% chance of not being able to shoot outside synapse. Devilgants are also really good in a pod, but without synapse they are prone to leg it instead of contributing to your offense, plus they are on the pricy side. Speaking of, all these expensive pods, Dakkafexes and Flyrants too, really racks up those points fast.
Reserve manipulation is hard to come by for Nids. Hive Commander was nerfed for ... reasons? Swarmlord? lol, no thanks. Leave you with Bastion + Comms at 95pts or maybe ADL + Comms at 70pts. And it means you're forced to have at least one CAD for a fortification slot, no Leviathan for you.
Also, you probably find that you want to use more than 3 Heavy slots, but double CAD will set you back a 4 Troops tax. Although deepstriking Ripper Swarms work fairly well.
