In this forum it's quite easy to miss new info due to the volume of posts around big releases; from people discussing the effects of the new information, to offering their opinion, to simply bumping the thread to ask for updates. At times trying to find the relevant information can involve skimming through several pages. Often some people try to keep the first post in the thread updated, but this can easily run out of room or be forgotten about.

It would be useful if mods in this forum had a checkbox on each post to mark them as a relevant piece of news or rumour. These posts would then be highlighted in some fashion (perhaps with a coloured border) to make them more obvious. There could also be an option to filter threads to only show these posts, letting people catch up on relevant info very quickly.

This is far less work for people to maintain than putting quotes in the OP, and is generally more user-friendly.

Too much work and too vague. How could any mod objectively tell whether a news piece is "relevant" or not? Some already struggle understanding the forum rules *ducks*

Seriously, though, I don't see how this could be done in an appropriate manner. Some people are more interested in a niche game while others may only be interested in the GW side of things. Now how do you measure those two differing interests? What is worth more than others? A news rumor about 40k will attract much, much more interest / views / users than a solid rumor about a very small niche game.

I see where you come from with your idea and I see that what you want is a good thing essentially, but I don't see how this could be applied in a good and appropriate way.

Ideally, new rumours, pictures, etc., are reposted in the OP of any thread by the user who started the thread. This doesn't always happen, however. Sometimes people are eager to start a new N&R thread but have no intention of actually following up and maintaining that thread.
