A client of mine wanted the monster bases from his Kingdom Death set to more closely match the awesome setting in the plane of faces. He also requested places that he could make into lava or little streams of blood (especially blood flowing out of a mouth that the Butcher is standing on).

Here are the greens for these bases. He'll be painting all of these himself, so my work here is done.

Wow, excellent stuff! I always love seeing green stuff in action. Sweet bases.

Edit: i'd only suggest filling up some of the gaps on the models (like the lions left front paw).

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.

These are very evocative. Really well thought out!

Yeah, and the head on the Antelope, right?

My client is doing the gap filling in this case, so it'll happen (just not before we took these pictures).

Kind of wish I had a full Monster set to paint up as well. All I have is some of the doubles that my friends got as kickstarter extras.

Those look excellent. Where did you source the larger stone faces from?

Well, I made them.

For the largest ones, I made instamold casts of dolls that belong to my 3 year old daughter.

They weren't all equal, but it didn't take me long to figure out which of the dolls made the best faces for me.

Great, thanks. I was thinking along the same lines for mine. The bases are large and great for adding detail, but they're just slightly different in size from every line of resin bases/toppers on the market.

Yes, they are a different size/style from almost bases out there. Most 50mm bases have the lip around them (and that lion won't fit on a 50mm base with a lip). Otherwise, you're looking at 60mm bases for the most part.

I found the Reaper 50mm bases are about right. I'm putting a kingsman on one right now- the depth those bases have in them is pretty neat to work with.

...i don't suppose you would consider making more of those?

It's just that seeing them makes me want to slice my beasties off of their boring flat plinths yesterday.

Yes, definitely. I made this set as a commission, so I'd definitely make some more.

And here's a second set of them. The main themes were the same, but this time less rivers of blood/lava.

The white lion is on a the "plain of feet." This is a little call out to one of the hunt events- it can result in almost nothing happening, but it might end with the party finding the bottom of the world and falling (upwards) to their deaths.

I did a different composition this time, but I still used the concept of the acanthus plant growing out of a cracked stone face.

The butcher, Kingsman and the Hand are on graduating bases (the Kings Hand wasn't glued onto the base at the time I took these photographs). I really feel that these ones are a good baseline for that the plain of faces looks like.

The Watcher and Phoenix weren't completely assembled (just enough to get them centered on their bases). I decided to create a cracked base, maybe from an earthquake or some other monumental event that acts as a harbinger for the Watcher's arrival.
