Hello all!

Like many of you I've been on Dakka for a long time as a lurker and procrastinator and intend to change that. Mainly, by keeping this blog going I'll feel obligated to continue showing progress and creating new content.

Recently my girlfriend has taken an interest into wargaming and always one for showing people the hobby I enjoy we started collecting and painting forces to duke it out for supremacy over our low-rise apartment.. I mean the warp... Yes.. the warp..

On this side we have the gore-soaked butchers of Corpulina the Merciless! In the opposite corner her contender Mr. "who needs reloads the men died before they need it" and "a canvas bag on your head is kinda like power armour" commander Festus!

So without further ado here is the beginnings of our armies, Khorne Daemonkin and Nurgle Renegades.

So far she's beating me in what's painted as I've been showing her what I know.


The first model she painted was this Helbrute. After showing her all the talent on Dakka here she think's it's a bad paint job, I said she was being silly as it's a great first mini!



I personally haven't done much, I do have a lovely mob of zombies almost done.


And next up is a LRBT, which the Renegades found mostly destroyed so they welded it to whatever they had kicking around.

Made some progress today on my first tank, recently picked up Forgeworld masterclass books and am trying out some new techniques. I tried salt weathering, sponging and will move on to powders later. Here are the results on a chimera.





This week I'm going to finish the chimera and command squad.

Thanks Knightley! My first model was a solid silver 3rd edition grot... I think he had yellow pants actually.

To give us a little more structure and have goals to aim towards we decided to start an escalation league at 500/750/1000/1250/1500. Lists are being made and will be posted new time. I've never built a list and have someone ask me what all my units do, and then ask what units are used to spank them into the ground.. Still waiting on my order from Forgeworld so I can actually have the rules for a Renegade army! Lesson learned, just use the regular mail carrier.. a certain company is very slow and annoying to deal with.

Here's the latest progress on the Chimera. I've never done mud with weathering powders before so any tips or tricks would be appreciated.




Meanwhile on the Daemonkin side, the first transport was done. A solid test model to learn how to paint vehicles. She is going for a very dirty and tarnished army. Personally it's a style I enjoy and I'm glad she likes the nitty gritty as I've never painted an army factory fresh.



Up next for both armies are my Command squad, 2 infantry squads and a heavy mortar battery, while Daemonkin will get 10 CSM and a possessed squad. And finally a distraction! I finished a laser destroyer and a local PDF guardsmen. I have no idea what to use them for but I'm very happy with how they came out.

Looks great so far, the only thing I have to say is that it doesn't look very chaos-y (beyond the laser destroyer), most of it in fact looks very clean. I would just suggest adding some things to the vehicles and infantry, maybe something as simple as some chaos stars, just some things that show that these vehicles belong to renegades

Agreed, it needs a bit more chaos-y things. Half a man impaled on a spear seems like a good idea. Maybe some icons, and a rotten wooden ram looks nice!

There you go, now it's a proper heretic tank.

So I finally finished up my Zombies, currently it's sitting at a squad of 10 that will eventually grow to 30.

"Local PDF forces first encountered the vile touch of Chaos when a heretical leaflet made it's way into the hands of the local PDF commander. Working on ideas for how to represent the rank and file renegades, currently anyone with Renegade training will be forgeworld torsos with vic miniatures greatcoat legs.

Looking good all-around. Have you used some 3rd party heads in the zombies? They look great.

Well It's been a while since an update but here it is!

Ever since I completed my first zombies it's been a game of counters. The Daemonkin didn't like all the undead running amok on the board so a large unit of 15 flesh hounds was made to test the theory - what happens when you hit zombies with a blender.

First up is my now 30 strong zombie horde.



And here are the hounds that like to turn them into undead spreadable paste.




And finally is my answer! Dirt cheap armoured sentinels!






Now the next project is 60 Militia, using forgeworld torsos and victoria miniature greatcoat legs.
A thing of beauty eh?

Looks good man both of your stuff I really enjoy that both of you are getting into the hobby her work looks really really well. Yeah mines taking it to the hobby as well so this is going to be interesting project I played deamon kin as well also I look forward to her take on them. To add some heavy firepower three rapiers were built tonight. I didn't like the look of tracked rapiers and I think Renegades would have a "counts as" instead of the real deal for a lot of weaponry.

Some great models here. It's interesting to see two opposing armies be built simultaneously.

Your posts make me laugh too! I like the idea of Nurgle spreadable paste. Is that available in Tesco?

Those rapiers look awesome! The army is coming together nicely for both of you. My wife was the same way, she was curious and loves the miniatures. Then when I started to go play she wanted to learn how to.

Excited to see all those militia with the coats and torsos. I love the FW heads too and the mixture you are doing.

Well this whole stop procrastinating thing failed a little, but I'm back and working on this army again! I'd really like a new army for the new year so I'm going to try and chug along and finish this for a new year.

My ideas on the list I had in mind has changed, mainly I'd like something a little closer to the Imperial Guard as I've recently read alot of Gaunt's Ghosts and found myself cheering for the Blood Pact. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the great big masks they all wear. So with that in mind I've built some models to represent former guardsmen turning renegade.

His first two lackeys and his Chimera.





The general idea behind the rank and file is to represent a former professional military force that has been forced to salvage equipment and replace lost members with fresh recruits that end in the mash of new and old, good and poor quality equipment.

Stilling working away, I have a feeling Father Chri...Nurgle will be bringing me some goodies this year and I would like to clear out what I have on my painting station before he arrives.

I've fleshed out the first renegade squad to a full 15 with sigil and 2x meltas. This along with double autocannon squads will probably end up forming the bulk of the infantry.




And to give my scrappy humans some extra evil and a little more kick I've added a detachment of Nurgle daemons.






Next up, more renegades and a Leman Russ!

Been working on the army again for a little bit, excited for what to work on next.. It's not a common model so it will definitely be a centerpiece for me.

First here is the beginning of my renegade horde. 10 down 90(ish?) to go! I accidentaly bought gloss Agrax so my models are a little shiny as I ran out of varnish. I will say the gloss version feels a lot different and finds the cracks of the mini better but doesn't stain the actual paint as much. I would like the metal to be dirtier so another coat of brown wash is coming.





And here is my alternate Renegade leader, if I ever feel like fielding a Heretek, I do love the decimator model.




And finally, the model I am super excited to start working on...

Great work Ork_Intelligence, the renegade guard always need new recruits. I wish i could just off-handedly add a detachment of awesome looking Nurgle daemons complete with forge world daemon prince.

Another update today, Chaos has gotten it's first proper squad of marines, along with a spawn as the unit champion turned into one and we had nothing to represent our new squib! And finally a squad of terminators rescued from the depths of the bitz box.

Rescue Terminators, they were made with whatever I had laying around and provided a great introduction to converting.



With a move coming soon I can't really commit to larger models so we've decided to work on theses fellows, a chaos sorceror and mutant that I've experimented with. the primer is drying as this is being typed so I'm curious how he's going to look painted.





P.S I noticed that mold line and it's been removed. Yes it was bother me too!
