Evening all
I used to play loads of 40k in the past during 3rd-5th edition, but like many as i have got older with family, work commitments etc i find it hard to find time to get proper games in, especially as i live in a rural area. I still love my models and as it seemed a shame to waste them, decided to create some solo rules to allow me to play whenever. Gw have a couple of solo scenarios in the latest rulebook, which use a basic a.i. that moves and attacks the closest friendly unit. I have expanded on this basis by using random enemy unit deployment by imagining a numbered grid in their DZ and rolling for each units placement, and created an A.I. events deck of cards to add some unpredictably, such as cards that allow a unit to arrive in your own DZ on the same turn; spawn new units, focus on your HQ unit etc. And it works! I have had some surprisingly good games and am continually refining the rules.
I am really interested to see if anyone else has done similar, ir have some great tips or rules to share for the enemy A.I. i think there is a bit of a gap in the market... Thanks in advance!
