Hey! I'm new to KDK and was wondering what are the strongest most worthwhile units to take in the codex?

Is min maxing characters and unit sizes the best way to go?

Which formations are worthwhile and which are bunk?

In response to the upcoming FW errata/FAQ updates for GW books (someone emailed them a question and their response was that soon there will be a big FAQ regarding FW integration into existing books like KDK, it's posted around here somewhere I'm sure) which Khorne units from FW are/would be worthwhile to take?

The First War of Armageddon legacy is very strong, is there a cheap way of getting it into a KDK list?

The Bikers and hounds one is essentially a must. Excellent benefits and Bikers are one of the good units that CSM's have as a whole.

BTW, I can't wait to run Double-D-thirsters! Man, just thinking about it gets me Khorney.

Indeed - what sort of bastard would want to use their codex?

Yes, like Slayer-fan said, the Gorepack is the strongest formation, but the second strongest is probably Khorne's Bloodstorm (and it is the only way to get a Heldrake into a Blood Host detachment). Heldrakes are one of the best units Chaos has (even with the nerf).

As for strong units, Chaos Lords on Juggernauts are pretty badass (give them some combination of Axe of Khorne, Lightning Claw, Power Fist, or Goredrinker and watch the carnage! ). If you take a Juggerlord, you really need to take some Flesh Hounds (this is where the Gorepack comes in handy), bikers, or Spawn to help keep him alive. Maulerfiends are good apparently (I don't have one, but I've heard great things), especially if you run more than one. All three flavors of Bloodthirster are pretty good (pricey though, in terms of points and money!). Soul Grinders are not bad, and can take different weapons depending on available points (although phlegm bombardment is probably the best).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

The Grotsnik Corp Bump Feelerer 9,000. It only looks like several bricks crudely gaffer taped to a cricket bat.
