Picked up the codex today
Shocking discoveries regarding drones.

Drone controllers specifically state they work for gun, marker light and sniper drones.

Every unit that can take drones aside from vehicles only say in their unit entries -

May take up to two drones from the drones list.

The entry has no price for said drones. So you go the drones page. The drones page lists all the drones in the empire. No prices.

Page 75 has prices for gun, shield, marker, missile and guardian drones

Drones are not bulky

The few units with specialty drones have the prices for those drones listed on the unit entry.

The drone squad page has the cost of gun drones.. Shield and marker drones are free upgrades.
Sniper drones
Recon drone
Grav and pulse accelerate drones
Shadowsuns drones
Shielded missile drones
- all cost the same.

So it essentially looks like anyone can take any drones they want unless specified in their unit entry page or data sheet or on the wargear list on page 75.

Done controllers only work on 3 types of drones
Only broadsides can take missile drones
Only FW can take guardian drones

The units that have special drones make no mention of those drones being exclusive to them.

So it would seem that you could take some pretty interesting combos.

Pulse drone attached to fw gives 36" range 18" rapid fire range
With a command link drone for re rolling 1s to hit.

Am I miss reading something here? Am I missing something? Anyone else have the codex to verify this?

You may want to edit out the points costs

You know, you'd think that people would be used to this format for the codices by now.

Please check the Tau Empire Wargear List on page 74 of the codex, immediately before the unit datasheets.

Realized that the drones list is the list under the wargear. Not thinking straight.
