I don't think you can do 2 coordinated shoots with the Storm Surge due to the rule that if the model hasn't shot yet they can add to the fire power etc. Basically you pick a unit, decide to add firewpower etc - and only units who haven't shot. Since adding firepower causes it to shoot (look up shooting you can't shoot twice unless you have a rule that says you shoot the weapon twice) and you have to complete all the shooting etc - you can't shoot, then pick another unit and have it add its shooting to it again as it has "already" shot. Something like that.

I have too look up the shooting rules too - but you have to pick all your targets as soon as you shoot with a GC or Super Heavy. You can't split up your shooting with - ok shoot GC, then shoot another unit, then shoot GC as he didn't shoot all its guns etc. But meh - I don't have all the rules in front of me.

Yeah, we're still working out the order of operations on that. It is a truly terribly worded rule.

I believe you can do two coordinated fire's with the Stormsurge. It makes a second shooting attack, immediately after the first. But the two shooting attacks are distinct, and thus other units can join the one the Stormsurge fires.

Now, the inverse is not true. The Stormsurge can't join two separate units, it can only join one, and then perform the second attack (not joined to the same unit), which can then be joined.

That's all very confusing, but the results are pretty clear with examples.

Example A: Stormsurge fires once, some units join it. The Stormsurge fires again, some other units join it.

This is valid.

Example B: Unit A fires, and the Stormsurge joins it with it's first attack. The Stormsurge then makes a second attack immediately after, which can be joined by unit B.

This is valid.

Example C: Unit A fires, the Stormsurge joins Unit A with both attacks.

This is invalid.

But you have to put down your thingies that let you do two shooting attacks. Which if the Storm Surge charged - it would not be able to do etc - thus it wouldn't be able to do Example B etc.

But A makes total sense - as it is the one initiating the initial shooting etc - thus it targets 2+ things and other units join each shooting attack etc.

But to let it shoot fully twice it has to have had its stabilizers down the turn before - thus it couldn't assault etc if it had them down and wanted them to work.

But I think it can work - it just sounded like it wasn't done right or explained right etc.

It's crap like this that has really soured me to the game. They clearly don't care about the quality of their rules writing anymore...or should I say...care even less. I think the last time I had motivation to play 40k was in June. It's sad, because I really want to like the game...but it's such a mess right now..and it takes forever to set up a game..that I'd rather play something else that doesn't require such a massive investment of time.

I am actually loving 7th ed, I think with restrictions in place it is the most enjoyable edition of the game, yet. If you play it unrestricted though, it is the worst edition of the game yet, lol.
