Hey there Trekkers, I finally got to play in the Temporal Cold War the other day. I’ve been meaning to post this, but work has been keeping me busy. Due to time constraints the store decided to have TCW1 before the blinds arrived, so we were playing regular 120 point lists. I didn’t have a lot of time to work on a new list, so I used one I had sitting around.

24 USS Defiant
04 Sisko
05 Independent Fleet Captain (crew*)
00 Attack Pattern Omega*
02 Riker* (Hood)
03 Paris*
03 Amat’Igan*
02 Type 8 Phasers
02 Systems Upgrade
05 Multi Adaptive Shields

30 USS Prometheus
06 Khan
02 Admiral Shanthi
06 Dorsal Phaser
02 Systems Upgrade
03 Immersion Shielding
01 Quark*(hiding Regenerative Shielding)

20 Fed Fighters

First Round was against a mix bag fleet from what I remember he had

Soong
Kar

Scimitar
Gul Evek
Interphase Generator

1st Wave Attack Fighters
Galor Class Phaser Banks

Things started off well when the planet blew up the first time we rolled 3 dice and his ships took all of the damage. The Prometheus and Defiant pincered the Soong and took it out quickly. My fightes distracted his fighters and the Scimitar. I lost the my fighters quickly after that. I focused on his fighters next. I had a bad roll with the defiant and lost most of my shields. The Prometheus was trying to regenerate shields before coming back into the fight. I eventually lost the Defiant. Khan came back in destroyed the Hidekies and the Scimitar stripped his shields. Khan tried to put some distance between him and the Scimitar to regenerate shields. I got back 3 when the Scimitar caught up to me. I was getting plenty of hits on the Scimitar, but his dice were on fire even without Evek, plus he was holding that IG in reserve. I eventually lost Khan and the match, but we had a fun cat and mouse game as he tried to catch me before all of my shields were back up.

Round 2 was against a Fed swarm with

Enterprise E
Picard 8

USS Voyager
Terrell

USS Phoenix
Burke

Fighter Squadron 6

He set up in the corner so I set up in the diagonal. We headed into each other. On turn 2 he didn’t understand why I would bump the Prometheus into the planet Turn 3 the Defiant and Fighters swung into him and the Prometheus shot across the planet with a 6 and was right behind him Khan and Sisko stripped the shields off of the E and left it with 3 hull left. He tried to shoot at Sisko with 2 ships but I was very dodggy, so he shot at the fighters with the rest. I quickly lost my Fighters. Khan stayed behind the E and took it out. Sisko gave Voyager a Warp Core Breach with APO. Khan was hit hard by Voyager and his fighters. I tried to escape out and regen some shields but the fighters stayed with me and took it out. Sisko was left all alone to take on 2 ships and his fighters with 4 tokens left I got him to chase me down to the corner and pulled a come about that he didn’t expect and got behind him. Finally after 4 or 5 turns of hopping Voyager was lost to the core breach. I kept the Phoenix off guard long enough and I got lucky when the fighters went to pull a come about they bumped and were stuck facing the wrong way. The fighters went down and it was just the Defiant vs the Phoenix. He couldn’t get me in arc so with one hull left the Defiant eventually took out the Phoenix winning the game for me. DON’T UNDERESTIMATE THE SISKO

For some reason we only played 2 rounds. I got the bonus 20 points in both games so I think I came in 2nd. Either way I got to bring home that shiny, but funky looking Xindi bug ship. It was a fun time. Especially as people started to watch Sisko bring my game back from the dead. We should have the blinds next time so now I have to think up some new lists. Sorry about the lack of pics, I was too busy talking and forgot to take more. I’ll try to remember next time

Looks fun. I have grown quite attached to Capt. Sisko, the Skill 8 one anyway.

When you said the first time the planet blew up, do you mean that the planet plows more than once?

Sorry I mean it blew as soon as it had 3 tokens on it. My opponent rolled all hits

Sisko is becoming one of my favorites, being able able to reroll a die every turn is really handy.

I love MU Sisco and his wife. She is like a perfect card to sacrifice to the matter replicators to make my crew fight harder.

The disparity between the "Must Take" captains (Picard, Martok, Donotra) and other captains in the game is way too great. So many captains have some interesting, or useful game mechanics that are way over shadowed by "The Big Three" and their global fleet affects. Picard might not be a global effect, but his action economy is too great not to take.

I try to take other captains instead, and more often then not, regret it.

Hey there guys, had an OP for TCW 2 yesterday. We had 2 more players show up at this venue, growth is welcome . I wanted to tweak my Defiant from last time and I wanted to give the Equinox with all those extra shields a try. This is what I went with,

24 USS Defiant
03 Desoto
05 Independent Fleet Captain (crew*)
02 Riker* (Hood)
03 Paris*
03 Amat’Igan*
00 Elizabeth Lens*
05 Multi Adaptive Shields
02 Systems Upgrade
02 Type 8 Phasers

20 USS Equinox
03 Tuvok (adds a tech and -1 point**)
02 Systems Upgrade
03 Immersion Shielding
04 Unimatrix Shielding**
02 Quark (Improved Deflector Screens)*
01 Lojur*
06 Disruptor Beams

I was thinking the Defiant is pretty solid with 6 defense one BS conversion and 4 rerolls thanks to Desoto . The Equinox seemed like a tough ship. Between the shield action and the Deflector Screens it will take more than 7 hits before anything goes to the hull . I was excited to go with these two ships because a year ago no one would have even thought to use them.

My blind draw was the Aldara so I went with

26 Aldara
03 Gul Jasad
05 Concentrated Fire
02 Glinn Lasaran*
03 Aft Weapons Array

129 Total

First round was against an assimilated Borg Fleet with the Toh’Kaht. From what I remember this is what he had.

Assimilated B’rel
Tactical Drone
Borg Queen Admiral
Borg Hull Armour

Assimilated Galor
Korok (Borg Version)
Data (Borg Version)
Bort Hull Armour

Toh’Kaht
Kaybok
Hon-Tihl
Reactor Core
Thalmerite Explosive

We pretty much went right after each other. He kept using Data to disable Desoto . The defiant was hurting without the rerolls. He took that out after 3 or 4 turns. I decided to focus on his Galor taking it out. He couldn’t scratch the Equinox. I circled around with the Equinox and Aldar did a lot of zig sagging to keep him off balance and use its aft weapon. I eventually took out the Toh’Kaht and he got the Aldara. I did pick up the objective. At time I was trying to line up a shot on the B’Rel but it would have taken a long time to get through that armour. On its own the B’Rel couldn’t get through the Equinox’ shields. With the objective I won 112 to 88

Second Round was against a Indy-Borg-Dominion build with Bioship Omega. This is what I remember

Officer Exchange Program Indy/Dominion

Soong
Dukat
Full Reverse
Boheeka

Assimilated Galor
Kar
Forward Weapons Grid
Ramat’Igan

Bioship Omega
Omega Pilot
Organic Conduits

Yeah I kinda saw this one going differently in my mind. When we got into range he used a combo of Kar, Forward Weapons Grid, and Ramat’Igan to throw two 7 die attacks , one at the Defiant that only got two shields and at the Aldara. The Aldara was hit hard loosing shields and two hull. The Bioship finished it off. Dukat focused on the Defiant, to no avail. After another turn of shooting he decided he couldn’t shoot the Equinox to death. Do he used the Omega Pilot’s ability over and over again until he took out all of the Equinox’ hull . Kar and Dukat kept pounding on the Defiant until it was done. His dice were on fire he was landing 5-7 hits a time. I got Dukat down to 2 hull, but couldn’t finish him off. So this one was a loss 0-130. This guy ended up winning the OP, he got the perfect combo with those two ships and the bio.

Round 3 was against an all Romulan build

Scimitar
Salatrel
Interphase Generator

Science Vessel
Donatra
Fleet Captain (tech)
Interphse Generator
Quark (Disruptor Beams)

Praetus
Centurion
Cloaked Mines
Cloaked Mines

Belak
Lovok
Tal Shiar
Aft Disruptor

This went more according to plan. He picked up the objective with the Praetus. I focused and took out Donatra and the Praetus on the same turn . After that it was up to the Scimitar and Belak to take on 3 ships. He took 2 shields off of the Defiant but that was it. He couldn’t scratch the Equinox. He got in a tight spot and had to skip taking the Aux on the Scimitar so he could come about the next turn. That left me a great opportunity to take out it’s shields so he couldn’t use the IG. He got Aldara down to 3 hull so I sent her off to safety. Defiant and Equinox chipped away at a decloaked Scimitar and that left the Belak to take on 3 ships. I cornered the Belak between all 3 and took her out. This one went down as a win with 130-30.

So the round 3 comeback allowed me to squeak into 3rd out of 5 , shame about that round 2. It was a good day though. We were allowed to buy extra blinds  so in addition to Aldara, I also picked up the Bajoran, Kazon, and Klingon packs . I have a TCW 1 next weekend so hopefully I can pick up some of the other blinds. I think I may tweak the Equinox for that one. I am glad to get the Kazon pack. I also have a Balance of Terror OP next weekend and I’M thinking faction pure Kazon

I got another shot at TCW 2 yesterday. Only two of us showed up, we usually have 4-5 I guess there were a lot of Viking and Seahawk fans in our area because the store was deserted except for some MTG players. Lucky for me the Packers didn't play until after the OP My regular opponent from this store showed up . He has been sporting a Scimitar build lately. He trashed by Feds on our last incounter so I was gunning for him. Our store didn't get the blind boosters in this time so we had to dig up what ever we had in out boxes for the other 30 points. I usually carry all my blind ships with me so I can keep any duplicates in the box for trades, so I went with the Belak. It isn't often I get a chance to fly 3 warbirds in an OP

Here is what I flew:
Officer Exchange Program Dom/Romulan

32 Romulan/Borg D'Deridex
04 Donatra
05 Magnometric Guided Charges
02 Romulan Helmsman
03 Interphase Generator

32 Romulan/Borg D'Deridex
02 Gul Mecet
05 Magnometric Guided Charges
02 Romulan Helmsman
03 Interphase Generator

30 Belak
02 Lovok
02 Aft Disruptor Emitters
03 Tallera
03 Type 8 Phasers

From What I remember my opponent flew;

Officer Exchange Romulan/Fed

Scimitar
Salatrel
IG
IG

Vo
Donatra
Mendak
Cloaked Mines

Science Vessel
Clark Terrell
Cloaked Mines

Toh'Kat
Kaybok
Hon-Tihl
Thalermite Explosive

Here is our set up

Turn 1
We just edge up.

Turn 2
I miss judged my dial a little and Donatra ended a little out of position Mecet was able to get an IG off of the Scimitar and my opponent did a few damage back.

Turn 3

My opponent likes to do 1 straits a lot, so I flew the Belak right into his formation and it paid off. He flew both the Scimitar and Donatra right into the Belak, no BS for you The scimitar did some more damage to Mecet. Donatra and Mecet took the Scimitar down to 1 hull and the Belak finisher her off Mecet took some more hits from the Toh'kat and was smoking at the end of the turn.

Turn 4

I flew Mecet off to keep him safe. Donatra and Lovok focused on the Toh'Kat.

Turn 5

I risked the mines with Donatra and took some hits, Donatra did lose her Mag Charges to a crit, but it did keep the Toh'Kat in my sights. I love Romulan Helmsman Donatra was enough to finish off the Toh'Kat. Lovok took some pot shots at his Vo and got a hit through.

Turn 6

Now the chase for the little fish He tries to lure me into the mines but it doesn't work.

Turn 7

He has the objective and decides that his two little ships can't stand up to 3 Warbirds, so he flies off the board.

Victory

I'm loving those Romulan/Borg warbirds

I feel like the Romulan-Borg Warbirds are what the basic D'dedrix should be...

Also, nice job on the battle reports.

I agree. The warbird has has been underpowered since day one. There was always the "oh " when one decloaked in front of the Enterprise in TNG, These are much closer to that for me and add that upgrade from the Terix and you are there in MHO

Exactly! A fire power of three is laughable in this game... Remans are honestly the best ship for the Romulans, and we will never see a second one...
