Hi guys,

I seem to be having brush issues. Brushues if you will.

Several of my brushes seem to form little hooks on the tips. It's happening with my army painters, gw brushes and Windsor and newtons... Different sizes too

I don't treat the brushes particularly badly, I wash them well with masters, store them well etc.

Am I still doing something wrong perhaps?

I don't wanna start trimming the tips, better the devil you know and all that.

Any advice at all?

So you are using Masters brush cleaner?
I haven't really had any problems like this after I actually bought the masters brush cleaner.

What I do is clean the brushes with masters, make sure there's no paint in them then dry them then I wet the masters cleaner a tad and roll the brush in it...it kind of gives it a slight coating on it and I'll shape it with my fingers to reestablish the tip. It works fairly well, after extended use sometime a brush can't be saved though

P.s don't cut the tip haha

I follow the same process with masters too...

The hooky bits come in useful from time to time, but generally do me head in.

Not sure what to do other then intently inspecting the brushes when I buy them to make sure the tips are sharp. All the brushes I have so far have been from t'interweb, so may have to find an actual store and peruse them before I buy

Are you leaving your brushes sitting in water? or do you put them point down in the cup or something? IF you are using natural bristle brushes its quite rare for them to curl, it's a problem that is normally associated with synthetic brushes.

My suggestion would be to try to point your brushes more frequently, and use your masters according to the conditioning instructions (where you actually leave it in the brush) and see if that helps improve it.

Otherwise I'd say buy new brushes and start over.

Do not twist the tips..
It will only lead to further tip split in the longer run..

Might sound dumb, but if I'm finished with a brush and rins it off - I put it in my mouth and form my lips like I'm kissing and pull the brush out, keaps the tips nice and pointy (as I said dumb)

With synthetics I've heard a quick dip n soak in hot water MIGHT straighten it out. Depending on how far it's gone..
