So I need to make a mock army, I wont be playing any actual games with it, or maybe a couple casuals with some good friends
I need something that mocks the bases and height of units/vehicles but I dont know what material to use.
Nothing fancy, literally im looking for a base thats the size of the corresponding unit and a stick/tube to mock the height.
I have no idea what to do for vehicles either. I need to make approx. 1500 points of Tau and 300-500 points of necrons.
If it helps i can post exactly the number of models i need to proxy

<Dynasty> ~10500pts
War Coven of the Coruscating Gaze ~3000pts
Thrice-Damned Plague Corps ~3250pts
Admech (TBN) ~3500pts +30k Bots and Ulator

Cardboard pawns/standies. Print out a pic to scale, mount on some thick stock, and stick it on the right sized base.

Get some styrofoam or ridged insulation, cut into rough shapes, mount, etc.

There are some papercraft printouts, but those look like a lot of work.

Found objects a/o other toys.

Its a shame you don't want to proxy imperials as you can just custom make and stick together a bunch of cardboard boxes to get approximately the correct shape/size.

Every other faction, besides orks, use a lot of curves, which makes things more difficult.

Specifically which vehicles are you looking to represent?

I'm also curious why you want a mock army if you aren't planning on playing with it. Are you planning to have a bunch of nice cardboard cut outs in a display cabinet? I suppose it could be kind of cool if they are all laminated and on fancy bases!

Its pretty easy to make custom bases, just cut out a bunch of circles of the correct diameter from card. If you want your bases to have height use corrugated card. Alternatively you can cut a long, thin strip of card, 5mm across then spiral it and glue it to the bottom of a disc or card so it has the correct height and width.

For the actual 'miniatures' if you are looking for a simple tube of the approximate height/width of a model I think all you need to do is roll up some card so the diameter is the correct width and the length is equal to the height and stick it onto those 'bases' you made.

I won't be using it at my gw shop but I will be using it in personal games , it's just until I can get the actual miniatures. Its so I can see how the army plays before actually using it
