I'm a firm believer that he is Guard Commander Azakellon, and the Blood Angels need for him is channeled into a warp energy which prolongs his life. I mean, come on, the wings, the armour, the wargear and hell, even the stats point to him being someone with alot of experience.

Who do YOU think the Sanguinor is?

The original Sanguinor was created, through some form of ritual, before Sanguinius' death. Azkaellon was present for this, but he was not the one who underwent the ritual. This is depicted in the audio book The Herald of Sanguinius. Whether or not this marine is the same one flying around in 40k is anyone's guess, but I think it is.

Mind, it could still be him, we never learn how Azzy dies and the Sanguinor before Sanguinius' death might have died.

Honestly if he has better WS than most units/primarchs then he must be good.

Hell, I think his WS stat is the same as Sigismund's.

I'm of the opinion that the sanguinor is actually Azzy.

I think the Sanguinor is unintentionally manifested psychically by Blood Angels when they're most stressed and in the direst times and that all Blood Angels have inherited some suppressed pschic abilities from Sanguinius, who was one of the better psykers amongst the primarchs in a similar way Thousand Sons inherited psychic abilities from Magnus.

We know for a fact that the original Sanguinor is not Azakellon. Whether or not the one in M41 is the same one is completely unknown. For all we know, one of the myriad of Blood Angel successors may secretly maintain the secret of the Sanguinor and when he is defeated, it is their responsibility to recreate him.

The Sanguinor itself was created for the purpose of speaking on behalf of Sanguinius as the Mouthpiece of the Emperor. This seemed to partially be due to Sanguinius's nebulous and flighty nature and partially as protection during public appearances, a role that Malcador or Valdor have occasionally fulfilled on behalf of the Emperor.

His life could be sustained by the warp essence of the Blood Angels.

I always thought it was a flicker of sanguinus reincarnated. His soul wasn't destroyed and his body was recovered and put in a strange sarcophagus which has never been opened. I think the blood and trauma if the BA causes him to appear randomly, like summoning a blood thirster.

Nonsense. The Battle Company box is perfect for filling out your ranks of aspect warriors with a large contingent from the Screaming Baldies shrine.

What a glorious theory. Have an exalt, on me.

This actually seems quite plausible to me. Have an exalt.

Thanks. A bunch of the primarchs have religious analogs. Horus is an obvious one, but Sang is pretty clearly supposed to be space Jesus. To complete that story arc he obviously has to rise from the dead. If theres ever a 40K end times, I expect that will be one of the twists.

So I always figured Sang would be reborn, although I'm a dirty xenos player mostly.

I thought the EMPS was space Jesus.

I agree with this for the most parts, but I wonder if Sanguinor KNOWS he's Sanguinius or not.

I want Platinum Games to make a 40k action game where you start as Sanguinius during the HH for the first mission.
Then you get rekt by Horus, wake up as the Sanguinor.
This will make it so you have to regain your previous power fighting across the millennia's in battles where you were summoned.

I think the most interesting part of this would be seeing Sangs thoughts and feelings watching the decline and suffering of his beloved legion, and the Imperium he died to defend, unable to interact or help them, except for the battles he's brought into existence for.
Plenty of depressing grimdark to go around for all.

I also wanna see what he thinks of Dante.

Officio Assassinorum - 4 Assassins
CSM - 500pts? Maybe? Its from the Officio Assassinorum box so I'm pretty sure its not enough to run in a CAD
Vampire Lords- I have no idea I bought it like two days before I left country and they're still in storage so I'll have to see when I get back.]
