With the upcoming HH box game, I think I want to take the plunge and begin a Word Bearers army. So, after browsing the FW site, it looks like I need the Crusade Army red book. Now, do I need to get book 5 and the other red book (the Isstvan one), or do I just need book 5?

While Book 5 does have the updated rules for the Word Bearers, you can largely just get by with the cheaper Istvaan legions book (you'll need HH5 if you want to run the Mhara Gal dread or Zardu Layak, and Lorgar lost Telepathy and gained Divination in HH5). Of course, if money isn't a problem, definitely pick up HH5, it's a great book.

I think Prospero is coming in spring. There is rules to Thousand Sons, Space Wolves and Custodians.

No it's not coming in spring. Book 6 is early next year with rules for BA, DA and WS and some other stuff (Knights Errant, Black Shields, bunch of new Rites of War).

@OP: On top of what's been said, be aware that Word Bearers also have a couple options to allow them to ally with Chaos Daemons, so if that's something you'd be interested in, the Chaos Daemon codex would be an added book. Note that WBs allying with Chaos Daemons is an option, and not a requirement.
